CANON POWERSHOT S95

Hi,

I am desperately seeking to find a good deal on a a Canon Powershot S95 camera.

Cheapest, I found was $379 (which is amazing) at Top Buy, but when I clicked the link it disappeared. I'm assuming they sold out.

Everywhere else, it ranges from late $400-$500 price range.

I am going overseas on Feb 14, so I'd also like to get 10% back in Duty Free.

Please let me know if you can help :)

Try ebay, buy it now price should be just under $400 delivered from Hong Kong.

    I bought mine a week ago :)

    • I saw that. Just a bit nervous about warranty issues. Do you know how it works if bought overseas?

You'll need to look at the warranty for each seller carefully. Most sellers from Hong Kong will pay for all costs including return postage, while some will need you to pay out of your own pocket.

I bought mine from T-Dimension because they offer 2 years warranty and 8 years for lens.

        • Thanks for that!! Great Info.

        • lens? what lens does the s95 have?

        • I think yeh is not talking about s95..

        • though sensor is smaller than others, they use CMOS

        • definity, esp the picture quality

why are you after an S95?
I'm pretty sure if you cant tell the difference between cameras specification-wise; you dont really need one of that magnitude. you talk about sensors and apertures, but do you know what it means?

Because, however much I like the P300, you cant say its better just because of the CMOS sensor. They both have theyre ups and downs, and you can only tell by comparison of photos, google if necessary.

          Quote from snapsort.com

Reasons to buy the Canon PowerShot S95
          Large sensor
          High ISO
          Shoots RAW
          24p movies

Reasons to buy the Nikon Coolpix P300
          Full HD
          Wide angle lens
          High resolution screen
          CMOS Sensor

        • do you know what you said meant?

"P300 seems have smaller sensor compared with other large aperture compact cameras.."

If you buy from places like topbuy or other grey importers, you will not get a tax invoice to claim GST because there is no GST paid on the items

  • also, if anything goes wrong, its going to be a massive pain to claim warranty. youre probably going to have to ship it back to china =s

but +1 for T-Dimension; their policies seem great.

Bought a Samsung ST700 from them because it looked cool.

  • hi sam

I just got my Olympus XZ-1 for $430 from here: http://www.dutyfreecentral.com

The S95 is listed here as $290 plus $65 shipping = $355 which is cheaper than TopBuy.

I ordered on Saturday and the camera and memory card arrived today, so shipping was quick.

I was choosing between S95 and Panasonic Lumix LX5 but the XZ1 beat them both in DPReview.com review and got a rare Gold medal from them.

Happy for you to decide your own needs, but if you haven't evaluated the XZ1 then check out the review before you buy:
