What to Do with Old Textbooks?

I still have a bunch of Uni textbooks that I wasn't able to sale due to shady Uni tactics of textbook obsolescence. Now I'm moving house and the last thing I want is to bring them to my new home.

Fellow Ozbargainers, what did you do with your old school texts?

Sell them for cheaper? I often used books from previous versions, and just had to find the info they were talking about since the page numbers didn't always match up.
If you can't sell them, drop them off at your local salvos/vinnies. It's a shame the throw them away, I like keeping mine for memory's sake.

I was going to recommend dropping it off at a lifeline store but not sure if they hold book fairs in Melbourne. I know in Sydney and Brisbane there are lifeline book fairs. It's the best thing ever. They have all sorts of books, with textbooks starting from $2! I've gotten some good stuff there in the past that really helped with uni.

These books are about 8 years old so I don't think they are still in demand. Will try dropping them off at local charity shops thanks.

      • There's going to be someone out there who wants it. Some of the books I picked up are close to 10 years old yet the content is still relevant. Donating it will give us poor uni students a hand :D

List them as freebies on your selling platform of choice - you'll be amazed at how many people still actually want them.

That being said, it depends on what subject books you have: history, maths etc books will be much easier to 'hand on' than a science book most likely.
    Don't just throw them away…

    • Unfortunatelly they are business and Law books, probably not as useful and up to date. But I'll try listing them all up at once see if there is a market for them

Throwing them away would haunt me later considering how much I'd spent on them :p

      • I could probably use the business textbooks still, pity you are all the way down in Melbourne though haha

Yeah I agree lol even if I spent $20 on a textbook I wouldn't be able to throw it away ;)
Business and Law books are expensive though !!
