RGB Lights to use with Google Assistant

I'm in the market for a RGB light that i can control over via an app and google assistant.
It can be a normal globe (B22 or E27) for a lamp, or a desk lamp/device.

Ive come down to this: xiaomi-yeelight-bedside-lamp-rgb. Its about USD$41 (AUD$53.49) right now.

My question is -
Is there anything cheaper out there that i can use with google assist?

Thanks..

  • Check if it actually has access to Google Home wireless? I always thought the desk lamp devices were Bluetooth or similar but would love to be wrong? I use one of the Xiaomi smart bulbs and I like it, but its quite slow, telling it to turn on has a few seconds delay, and sometimes its enough for me to just turn on the other light and get instant light instead.

    Haven't used much others though.

    • In regards the bedside lamp; the first gen was bluetooth but the 2nd gen has wifi. The one OP linked is only bluetooth.

  • you can use the "yeelight actions" connector in google home.

    • Is this what you use?Xiaomi Yeelight 220V E27

I can confirm these work with Google assistant. I have a pair as bedside lamps which I can use either with the Yeelight app or through the assistant on my phone or with my Google Home.

Able to easily control brightness and colour through either.

        • i noticed this says 220v. i assume you had no issues in Australia?

        • @ds4: nah no issues, thats the cheapest solution for you, I got a few working perfectly with GH/GA. Also i bought them on sale for about 13 a bulb, the price has gone up slightly now with fewer sales going on

  • If you're looking at the Yeelight bedside lamp make damn sure you get the new version 2, as the original (cheaper) version only does bluetooth not wifi.
