Even better than JB's deal of $399. Big W will have PlayStation VR + Camera + PS VR Worlds for $389 starting this Thursday. Great for those who get Woolies discounts too.

  • Does anyone know if it's possible to get any deals without the camera? I already have a PS4 camera so don't need another one but interested to try out the VR headset

    • +1

      How about resellin the camera?

      • +1

I put mine on ebay when I got the PS VR from the Gamesmen deal last week. i’ll be happy if it sells for $30-40

        • +1

@ClaireWarren: I was referring to the camera only. I don’t think you will find a full psvr kit for $30-40

  • Is this compatible with the original ps4?

    • +1

      Sure, any PS4 model

  • Probably a stupid question but can you connect this to a PC?
And if you can, is this one of the better VR headsets on the market today?

    • +2

Yup, but need additional software, SteamVR and no tracking apparently.

    • Thanks for your answers.
      Any suggestions for PC users?

Have a look at the WMR (windows mixed reality) headsets on eBay. Lenovo, Dell, HP, acer and Samsung all have versions with different pros and cons but a lot of people have got them for free through laptop promotions so are selling them off brand new. Samsung is the best visually and gets a lot of love but hard to get and will cost you a lot more so I would skip($700-900 range).

You can pickup a Lenovo or dell for $300ish if your patient and they would be my pick. The Acer is a bit cheap build quality wise and the HP too heavy.

The WMR's are better than the psvr although I would happily have both for the exclusives. The WMR's actually have some pros over the vive and oculus rift.

Youtube and Reddit have a lot of reviews that are worth checking out. I got the Lenovo for under $280 and absolutely love it, it is much better than I expected after trying a vive. I only have a GTX 970 with i5 6500 and have been able to play everything so far so don't be scared off by system requirements (that's what had me hesitant for so long). I have also been suprised by how many free games and apps there are to play around with on steamvr and oculus (using a program called 'revive' to access).

  • Is this thing any good? I know this is a relatively good price but they still seemed overpriced for what it is.

Just asking the question, I am open-minded still.

    • Give it a try. It makes some people queasy and motion sick. I thought it was cool when I tried it at a friend’s place, but couldn’t see myself buying one, because it’s heavy and clumsy. This second version is tempting though and I’ll reconsider if there’s a good bargain.

      • +1

It is also said to have he least motion sickness out of all the VR gadgets, and the most comfortable to wear, especially if you wear glasses

      • Where can you try it?

    • Try WipEout VR if you can, it's a system seller. Incredible experience and I'd recommend it to anyone!

      • I tried it yesterday and almost vomited in the first 10 seconds :)
I guess I will eventually get used to it

      • Bought wipeout yesterday and while the cockpit is cool the tracks don't seem very 3d to me at all? I recalibrated the headset to make sure it wasn't that but idk

        • Weird, I dunno what to tell you @bloobat. Maybe try another game and come back to it.

The general concensus states that it has one of the best 'sense of place's feelings, and I agree. I feel totally immersed in that world.

Is the the second gen version? What are the differences between this and the first gen?

    • +1

Not sure what model they're selling but the main upgrades the second gen got are as follows:

      • Built in earphones
      • Moved the headphone jack, volume and power buttons from the cable up onto the headset itself.
      • Cable is thinner and less clunky
      • Break out box supports HDR pass through (the first gen didn't)
      • Resolution and performance wise, they are the same.

Checked at Brisbane CBD BigW, Gen 1 is what they have.

      • Thanks for letting us know!

    Used twice $300 delivered

    • v.2?

    • what does it come with?

      • the VR headset

Grand turismo VR and Skyrim VR

  • +1

this stock isnt the V2s is it ?

  • Wasn't it cheaper during the black friday deal with JB?

  • +2

Still need a good deal for the PS4 pro. Wheres the $350 deals? Well and truly mnoths overdue now…

  • Id wait till other retailers show there hand. Especially for those who don't have motion controllers

  • Definitely glad I pulled the trigger back during the Chrissy sales.

Strongly recommend Doom VFR. Just make sure you go into the options and turn on joystick movement, game is a proper drag and v uncomfortable otherwise IMO.

  • I still can’t beleive Xbox hasn’t done this. It’s flippin amazballs. I’m not sure why anyone would not pull the trigger if affordability isn’t a concern.

  • Am I right in assuming that this bundle doesn’t come with the move controllers?

  • +1

Sorry, but can anyone confirm if this is the 2nd Gen Version please?

    • Checked at Brisbane CBD BigW, Gen 1 is what they have.

  • Looks to be unavailable online… so instore only!

  • Price matched at JB to get Gen2.

  • I got one and on the box it has CUH-ZVR2, this would be version 2 right? I don’t want to open if it’s gen 1 as I have already I just upgraded for the HDR passthrough

    • +1

Yes, Thats Gen2, I guess it all depends what stock they have on the shelf. Brisbane CBD is CUH-ZVR1.

However, just take BIGW website to price match elsewhere if they only got Gen1 at Big.

      • thanks for the confirmation :)
