Red Rooster Sucks (Case in point) Chicken Loaded Chips Truth Rating (Real Life Photo v As Advertised)

So I went to Red Rooster today to get some loaded fries. Looks pretty good hey?

10/10 As Advertised

This is what I got.

4/10 Real Life

They put a cover on it so when you get home you are too far to complain. But extra pissed off. Store was Nerang in QLD. Post more comparisons guys!

It looks fine, just not much of it.

Agreed, I was expecting much worse. But it is a small portion.

It's always good to check contents before leaving the drive-thru if it is correct, however I wouldn't have checked too tbh (well checked inside the covers/wrapper).
Make sure you don't get the wrong order, otherwise you will have the Police knocking on your door 2 hours later LOL :-)

  • something similar happened when I bought loaded chips from mcdonalds

the only place that had decent chips with gravy was kfc, Idk if they still sell them like that, if not medium chips and "normal" gravy would be around $5-7, idk

Real life often looks terrible with a bad camera angle and lighting.

Use a nice long portrait lens and mount an orange diffuser on your flash to keep the light soft and the colour well saturated.

Try piling all the chicken and chips into one diagonal half of the tray. Mount your camera on a tripod and shoot at the same angle as the advertisement to avoid showing the empty half of the tray.

With a bit of effort I think you could achieve similar results to the advertisement.

    • It was half empty. If I had extra chips sure.

The Checkout have a whole segment dedicated to this, which is aptly named "Product vs Packshot".

few weeks ago i got a clubhouse chicken burger meal from maccas drive thu.. i got home and the burger didnt have the chicken or bacon in it. i was so. damn. pissed. off. especially because on the way home i spilt the chips all over me…

  • You always expect it won't look like the picture, and that's to be expected, however that is a disappointingly scabby amount of chips in that large tray. Complain to the manager.

I'm quite partial to the KFC tenders, but have realised that particular stores seem to have only extremely small ones, with very little coating. I genuinely think some stores may be cutting them in half.

    • Id just be happy with the same or close amount of volume.

  • Definitely not enough in terms of amount of chips/chicken, also it looks like different type of gravy? The one in the add looks like the Maggi Classic Rich gravy, while the one you got looks half cut and definitely different brand?

Personally I've never really understood RedRooster, the chicken looks like the same that I can buy from woolies or coles just with chips?

    • At least it isn't Chicken Treat.

  • at least you have gone from a nutritional 1 star to a 2 star.

  • Crappy response from Red Rooster:

    Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your Loaded Chips at Red Rooster – it is our goal to provide great value for money with all our offerings, in particular our $5 deals.

Please note that both our in-restaurant imagery and our in-restaurant serving sizes contain the same quantities of chips, chicken and gravy. We do find that sometimes there are differences due to packing of the product.

Please know that we are committed to our customers’ satisfaction. I will ensure that the marketing and other relevant teams review your email.

Again I thank you for getting in touch and hope that we can welcome you into our restaurants again very soon.

    Thanks
    Arielle

    • P.S. There is no Easter Bunny, either.

A typical cut and paste response that took "Arielle" less than two seconds. Was that through head office or the store? You'll find more joy talking to the manager in person. Show them the photo and tell them why you think it's rubbish.

But it's simple. Respond in kind by not eating there again.

      • I said:

Your main goal should be delivering customer satisfaction (to expand your business and improve brand loyalty). You could have had a good thing here with this deal and repeat customers.

If you skimp on the product and value for money is on the top of your priority list you would not expect your business to perform well.

I weighed it and fell well below the grams listed on your website.

That was the last time we will ever visit Red Rooster.

  • You got ripped off.
