Buying from The USA Using an Agent

I had a mail earlier from an old work buddy. He was asking for help with buying stuff (not sure what) from the USA. He was asking about those people who buy on your behalf to avoid problems with geo blocking. He specifically mentioned the possibility of saving on shipping by aggregating a number of purchases into one parcel for shipping.

I have never done any of these deals but I said I would ask around.

Is this activity still worthwhile? Can you aggregate for cheaper shipping?
Can you name some of these places and I might suggest he asks them direct.

IIRC our guvvamint is going to tax these imports in the near future. Any info on that?

thanks, Bob

Keep voting Labour and Liberal if you want taxes on you to continuously rise while the most profitable businesses earning multiple billions pay less than 2% effective rate.

Yep, coz the Greens know how to draw up a budget 😂

    • Someone more talented than I, needs to create a "colesworths" style name, blending of those 2 parties.

    • in the New FY ( Jul 1 2018 onwards) customs are going to charge GST on every import. Currently they dont charge GST on imports under $1K. They are also going to charge a handling fee although I'm not sure what that fee will be.
