Air Purifier - What to Get?

Hi guys, looking to buy a air purifier and wondering what to get.

Want something decent quality so not the cheapest I can find, but definitely something with bang for buck. Maybe $200-$250 budget but again prefer bang for buck so if i can spend less on a product that gets me 90% of the way that's fine. Also something which filters won't cost me heaps.

Just had one more question. If I run this purifier then i open my door would it make it totally ineffective and dust around my house fly straight back into my room?

    If you want an extremely budget option, strap a HEPA filter onto a large fan, just like how these guys do it: https://smartairfilters.com/cn/en/

    It won't reduce the amount of dust though, if anything, the filter will probably get dusty quite quick.

    How about something like this?

    Whichever one you get, remember to factor in the availability, cost and intervals of the replacement air filters.

    I like the xiaomi air purifier.

    I have version 2.

    There are reports that the fan speed on favourite mode (which can force a very high fan speed) only lasts for a couple of hours then goes back to quiet/auto mode. This is now incorrect, it can stay in high speed favourite mode forever if you want.

    Filter is ~$40 usd and lasts 6 months. I think in australia you might have less pollution and dust. If you vacuum outside of filter every month or two i reckon the filter should last 12 months? It totally depends on how much you are using it.

    The xiaomi has the advantage of being able to set schedules. It is also smart so you could link it to door and window sensors to turn off if the windows are open etc.

    I would recommend the Xiaomi air purifier version 2 for around 120-130usd as a good option. (You need to buy on special).

    I would also recommend the diy solution in the first post as well especially if you had very high dust or pollen.

      Regarding the other versions of the Xiaomi air purifiers (version 1,2,2s,pro,max) , there are lots of posts on here already, but for your budget level i recommend version 2.

      Don't exactly need the smart functions, are there any better ones i can get for the price without them?
