Cheapest Car Rental LAX with Insurance Included

Hi,

I'm heading to LA shortly and wanting to hire a car for 10 days.

pick up and drop off at LAX

I've checked the standard aggregate sites and they only show the rental cost. insurance is added later when you pick up the car.

I'd like to know ahead of time what that will cost.

I'm aware of the different car insurance rules and am looking for an affordable car rental option which also includes/show insurance cover.

Or am doing something wrong when searching?

any assistance would be great. in terms of rental sites.

thanks

Al

EDIT - thank you for all your suggestions, tips and advice. it helped me. I ended up getting a 2016 elantra for 10 days for AU$450 (including insurance) via Turo

I've used Turo a few times, it's like Airbnb for cars.

Drove a targa Corvette, 5,500 miles was about $1,200 USD for a touch over 2 weeks.

This chick has about a dozen cars on it she rents out https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDJ0Yb_YYkfCkU-ekO23Z2A/vid…

The aggregators will include insurance for Aussies in the advertised price.

I went with rentalcars.com It cost me $AUD 1563 for 6 weeks including all important insurances.

Cheers to a good trip OP!

Hi, Last June I booked through Rentalcars.com and got a car with Alamo. It was a Mustang convertible, hired for 12 days, picked up at LAX dropped off at Las Vegas. All insurances included, unlimited mileage and no drop off fee, cost me $AUD 970.00
Prices change all the time, and I did book this several weeks in advance.

  • Another option is to get the AMEX Explorer Card that provides LDW insurance then just book the cheapest car from avis/hertz etc.

Cheapest price I got was from Expedia.co.uk - convert their pounds to AU$ and it's ahead of any prices you'll find elsewhere. All insurances are included.

I used CarRentals.com twice when i was in the US in 2015.

I remember the price being clearly listed with or without insurance, would recommend having a look with them.

    e.g.

    Car Rental Fees
    8 Days @ $41.25/day $330.00

    Estimated taxes & fees $42.95

    TOTAL ESTIMATED CHARGES $372.95

    Collision coverage cost*** $81.00

  • Also to note that your travel insurance (if taking out) most likely includes car hire insurance.

      Not true!

Travel insurance usually only covers the car hire excess. If you don't take car insurance (waiver, etc) then travel insurance provides no benefit.

  • You’ll find the that car rentals have changed in recent years. Most major chains (Avis etc) all include the the necessary insurance, with a sizeable excess ~$4k. Which is often (the excess) covered by your travel insurance. The additional insurance they try sell you is for additional injury cover and loss of personal items in theft, which again your travel insurance will cover. We frequent the West coast often, and have used a few - just make sure you read the fine print so you not getting items bundled that you covered with. Also don’t expect them to know what travel insurance coverage you have got when you making the selection, but feel free to get them to explain what their included cover covers so you know if your travel insurance will cover any shortfalls.
