  • Go to Kogan and use some vouchers to get it under 100$.

  • Zhiyun Smooth 4 is the latest release replacing the Smooth Q. If you are after the Smooth Q I woulld expect better deals to surface over the coming weeks.

    • +1

The smooth 4 replaces the smooth 3 (for once the nomenclature seems to make sense) but is priced against the DJI osmo 2, bringing it much closer to the price of the smooth Q, which is still the current budget model. As you have said, the model being replaced, the smooth 3, has already been heavily discounted by eGlobal and sells for $169 + shipping. However given that the smooth 4 is likely to retail for $199 I would not recommend the smooth 3 (unless you really need that 260g payload all the time).

  • is this for phones?

    • -1

Yes. Also action cams and point and shoot cameras - with the correct adapters.

      • The gimbal has a max load of 220g. Maybe keep the cameras to gopros

        • As long as the device is balanced you can stick a premium compact in it. This guy sell a 3d printed adaptor with counter weights and it works perfectly for rx100 and also lx10.

        • @Fiximol: still gotta consider the momentum that comes with additional weight. Just because it balances it doesn't mean the motors will handle the extra torque needed to keep them stable. Stabilisation isn't as good and the motors get warm

        • @Fiximol: wow! I wasnt aware of this.thanks !

        • @krisspy: you are talking theoretical, but all I know is there is someone who has done it and has been selling the product and there are plenty more DIY examples

        • @Fiximol:

I bought one of these off ebay and as mentioned above……
(RX100 V) is actually too heavy for it , even after balancing it perfectly with counter weight.
When you move the smooth q with too much speed its falls off axis and you need to restart the smooth q to balance again.

Not a huge deal, but i wouldn't do it again.

These things work mint for mobile phones.

        • @Fiximol: well I've never tried it on an actual heavy object but everyone that uses my gimbal doesn't balance it properly. They then swing it around like a spaz and the gimbal gets stuck on portrait mode trying to lift the heavy side. I also notice the motors get warm after this. Don't think brushless motors like heat too much

        • @markh: Good to know!

  • The software that comes with this is hopeless for Android phones. It doesn't record past 720p even when you select 1080 and time-lapse records a video instead of a time lapse.
