    Here is what they say:
At Westfield Liverpool we offer FREE parking for the first 3 hours!

Plus there’s FREE parking with entry after 6 pm.

(Excludes Public Holidays, Special Events and December)

    Anyone?

Not sure if Liverpool is the the same, but in Doncaster Melbourne U can't exit and re-enter within 2 hrs otherwise it still counts as 1 Visit and U will be charged accordingly.

    This is on the website

If you exit the centre, there must be 2 hours between exit and re-entry in order to receive another ‘3 hours free parking’ period.

I couldn't see that statement on the Westfield Liverpool website though so could be different

How would they know? do they have cameras that take photos of the cars number plates?

      • +1

Yes, it is a ticketless system so they use cameras to capture number plates to record entry and exit times.

        • What if your car doesn't have a number plate?

@JIMB0: Then you can take your chances on the road with the police.

    SERIOUSLY!?

The sign says, FREE parking with entry after 6 pm…… So did you enter after 6pm? If not, then NO FREE parking for you!

It also says first 3 hrs free parking?. I still think i have a valid question and don't understand your outrage

      • The wording FREE parking with entry after 6 pm, is different if say FREE parking after 6 pm. Thus I guess the entry thingy is important. Why don't you call them up tomorrow and let us know :)

It also says first 3 hrs free parking?

Correct, so entering BEFORE 6pm, and you get 3hrs free, and then pay the hourly rate pricings after that on the board.

Another deal they offer, As per the sign,

ENTER AFTER 6pm, and its free parking.

I still think i have a valid question

        yeah nah

        and don't understand your outrage

The sign is very simple to understand.

      • Entry at 5pm gives you three hours free parking (i.e. to 8pm).

Free parking with entry after 6pm gives you free parking if you enter after 6pm until the car park closes/the new day commences and you are slugged the $40 overnight fee.

        Simples.

You are hoping for the more favourable situation. You should always ask yourself, what it the least favourable situation for me. In this case Free Parking on ENTRY is for after 6 pm, whereas Free Parking 3 hours is for ENTRY before 6 pm. No ambiguity there.

Yeah OP wants both deals, when its a OR deal.

Enter before 6pm and you get xyz which is 3hr free parking and then pay per hour

          OR

Enter after 6pm and get free parking.

          You can't have both!

        • @JimmyF: Or put another way, OP was hoping that the the deal would be based on period of stay in the carpark and could use the more favourable deal if straddling 6pm. But the criterion is simpler, it's just based on time of entry.

        • -1

@greenpossum: Yep purely based on entry time. So OP can say up until 8pm for free if entering at 5pm, based on 3hr free.

    • Dunno about the aggro but this is the way I read it too.

From experience at 5pm entry, free till 8pm then will get charged fee. Unless they open boom gates sometimes post 9pm to stop ppl damaging gates

It depends what system they use. As said, if it's ticketless then you can't re-enter until 2 hours has elapsed after leaving as it uses number plate recognition.
If it's a simple ticket system then just exit when your 3 hours is up and re-enter after 6pm for free parking for the rest of the night

If you enter at 5:59pm, you're not eligible for free parking. You'll be under the 3 hours free constraint

    • Just to add to this - some ticket systems also have licence plate recognition - need to look for the cameras on entry/exit

just park there overnight to test the theory of free parking after 6pm

      Oh, look who's back! Haha

Do as what the sign says and not what your head wants it to say!

Usually they will open the boom gates from 9 cos after 6pm entry you shouldn't need the boom gates any more.

However… If u dont know the boom gate scenario, it's not too difficult to exit and re-enter just to be safe.

  • I think you’ll have to exit and re-enter.

If someone entered at 1pm and exited 7pm they’d get charged 6 hours, they wouldn’t get the last our free
