  • anyone tried this before?

I bought one kit before around a year ago, it was my first time trying whitening products. It wasn't extremely noticeable but it did make my teeth a little whiter. Right now I'm currently using this kit that my dentist recommended: http://www.colgateprofessional.com.au/products/colgate-optic… but still waiting to see results on how this one goes.

      • I've used it before, it did make my teeth more naturally whiter. If you want the Hollywood look, I think you'd need it bleached. I've also tried a similar product to cxz106 using custom moulded mouth guards, and while it did make my teeth whiter, it made it extremely sensitive in my case.

Not much difference between the Colgate and Oral B products (hydrogen peroxide content of 6% and 5.25% respectively), hence the similar results. Also, the longer you leave this on or the higher the concentration of hydrogen peroxide, the more likely you will experience sensitivity with your teeth.

    • They barely stay on your teeth as the strips are made of some flimsy ass plastic (almost like cling wrap) It's super annoying. Crest (from USA) is where it's at, the shit sticks on tight, it's like you're sticking stickers to your teeth. Comes off no problem

  • How do these compare with the crest whitening strips? Same type of thing?

  • Can any of these DIY products come close to what a dentist can provide (at much higher cost of course) ?

Interestingly, a (dead body) character on NCIS had his teeth go transparent and start falling out, due to too much whitening.. checked into it, and yes it can happen.

And it sounds like the only way to get that Hollywood look is to get porcelain veneers, as medical whitening can only go so far before they just wont go whiter (depends on your natural shade).

  • Australia is quite strict with teeth whitening regulations, the strength on these are not great but the max allowed in Australia for over the counter. Crest Whitestrips are much stronger depending on the variation (50-100% stronger) and you can still pick these up on eBay from Aussie sellers. You can PM me if you want a reputable seller who I know of because there are Chinese fakes. $25 for a box of these are a good price though and expect to pay 2-3x for a box of Crest Whitestrips.
