Hi! I was looking for some suggestions for brands of backpacks(preferably leather). My price range is no more than $200 and I prefer something that's simple but still elegant looking(preferably black) and can also be used for work. Please link any bags or suggestions for brands below :)

I recently got a top grain leather bag made from a company called Mahi
I found out about them through Google.
I paid $200. Never owned a leather anything before this. It was a gift to myself.
It comes with a free 4 characters embroidered into the leather.
In hindsight it wasn't worth $200 (novelty wise). I use it everyday…but still…I could've bought a fake PU leather for $50.
I found a generic FB coupon for x% off. I think it was originally $250 delivered and came down to about $210 approx.

I tip my hat off to you, sir. You've already done more than what half the people starting forum topics on here are capable of. BTW, it's "full grain leather".
I did do some research beforehand but just wanted to get some more opinions as I am not buying this for myself :) Ideally I wanted to buy full grain cowhide leather.
If you're planning to wear it on your back you don't want a leather bag. They weigh a lot even with nothing in them.
As someone who works in a luxury bag store I 100% agree with you and I don't like how leather will wear out quicker than nylon, ballistic and other materials but this is for my bf and he said he likes the look of leather
Get him a small messenger bag instead of a backpack. It will get more use.

Good leather should wear just fine as long as you don't mistreat it…

If you are not bothered about brand you could check out stuff in www.etsy.com. Since its custom made you have a lot of flexibility on the design and quality of leather used.
