Was thinking of picking up this card for our month trip over to the US later in the year.
The only downside being we won't be traveling domestically anytime soon or would onlybe Brisbane to Melbourne, so waste of a free flight. I know there is a condition of having to book the ticket under card holder name. My question was whether there is any way possible to change this after booking? Is there a name change fee or something similar I can pay Virgin?

No name change. Period.
My wife has that card and for the last two years we tried to get the free flight under my name (same surname) and couldn't do it. We tried before booking and then a month later after booking (just in case there was a loophole). Not even with paying fee for change.
Thanks for the reply. I found this page which detailed online name change could not be made with a gateway ticket. However below it stated a $40 for call/airport change. Was hoping it may be $40 if changing through that, but it may just be $40 service fee + other fees.
We tried changing the flight with Virgin and they directed us back to Visa Travel (the agent you have to phone and book through). It didn't end well!
They don’t check ID anyway. If the person travelling is of the same sex and race then there is a chance no one will ever know.
This is true, I flew from Gold Coast to Melbourne with Virgin under my friends name and no ID was checked.

Lost my wallet :) I have flow domestic heaps of times with Qantas, Jetstar, Tiger and Virgin. Never once been asked for ID
