Woolworths Group Declines All My Credit Card Online Purchases

Hi guys,

I need advise if someone familiar with my problem.

All Woolworth group online sites decline all my credit card purchases. It is Woolworth , Dan Murphy etc. I can't get Wish Card via cashrewards. Issue last for more than year and I raised several call with Woolworth. I have changed 3 cards. All cards issues by NAB and they are both Visa and AMEX.

However, all my CC works if I make purchase via POS terminal at shops. Only online transactions declined.

NAB clearly confirmed that they are not blocking any transaction and decline came from Woolworths. However, Woolworths also did not confirm issue at their end and 2 support calls with them has been resolved without any comments.

So it is kind if ping pong game now while bank blame Woolworths and Woolworths blames NAB and I do not know how to resolve it.

Any valuable advice?

All Woolworth group online sites decline all my credit card purchases

What about you been buying that caused them to block you? :)

    • Nothing. Tried several times to get wish card only. And maybe liqueur . Never succeeded.

  • Have you tried to pull a dodgy with their online store with cash rewards or wish vouchers or something?

Maybe make a new account and get your points transferred ?

    • Might try. Just been holding account for ten year or so and want to sort it out first.

  • Must be your online profile they have decided not to do business with anymore. Maybe hit them up on Facebook where it is a bit more public.

  • Do your online credit card transactions with non-Woolworths group businesses go through OK?

    • Yes of course. Doing mostly online purchases. Have issue with Woolworth.

Last weekend. I had my wish gift card account blocked. None of my regular credit cards worked.
I've been buying using the same account. Credit card and amounts for a 12months.

They didn't say why. But a call to woolworths money 1300 10 1234 if I recall the number sorted it out quick

    • Did they give a reason while you were talking to them on the phone? Or was it more generic?

      • not really, just some security check,

btu I have heard other people getting random security checks,

a few months ago I had about 5 orders take 3 days, when they normally take a few hours, and it was a random seccurity check

I quick call and they said orders will be relaesed in an hour, and it came in an hour

however yours might be totally different since its across the all the woolworths stores,

maybe mine were blocked back then, but I didnt try

        • that is strange. I have been twice on call with them but no resolution occurred. They just blame my bank.. It was long ago so might need try again

Looks like Woolworths has some sort of credit card fraud check tool that's blocking your cards.
Is all your transaction from your home or work? try from a different place like library and different device.

Why would you continue to favor a organization who does not seem to be interested in your business?

    • Once you have one issue with them, they will block you. They will never tell you it's a fraud issue.

Recommended: 1) Create a new WOW account with new name and email address (change the email address with cash rewards to match)
      2) Get your CC company to replace your credit card with a new card number
      3) when you buy online with new account, for CC section, use your real name on card for card name and new CC details.

      This will fix it.

      Cheers

  • I don't know if this helps, but I had a similar problem yesterday. It seems that Everyday gift cards had an old expiry date on my card, and when I checked out my gift card purchase with a card with a new expiry date it seemed to cause the system to automatically reject my card. I ended up using another card, even though I spoke to someone at Woolies who stated they had removed my old card details from my account.

I have to admit I'm still not 100% sure what this issue was (it was a little difficult to communicate with them).

  • What decline code did NAB say Woolworths are coming back with? Get this data and present this back to Woolworths.

    • thanks. I will take note for that

I have a similar issue with Woolworths at the moment via the Entertainment Book link and the everyday gift card site. I will let you know more when I can.

    • I’ve had the same problem with Entertainment Book in the past and couldn’t buy cards

      • That's very interesting. I tried a second time with the same card and had different problems. I've been in contact with their support staff and I think we've got things sorted out.

I don't normally use Entertainment Book for my discounted Wish cards so I'm not going to try the system again. The support staff couldn't explain why there had been a problem.

  • 1300 10 1234 - Give Woolworths Credit a call and ask them why ?

    • +1

Why? His cards are issue by NAB?

  • Hi xlamik, if you could provide me with your Woolworths customer id, I follow up with our customer service team and try to find an answer for you.
I had an issue with my card last week and saw an error, but could easily pay after the second attempt. I was told after that there was a bank outage on that day.

    • Thanks Mashkez,

I tried again today and eventually it has been processed. Not sure what happened but seems issue resolved after several year. Might be related to support call I raised with them couple of days ago, despite I did not get feedback answer from them

  • There are 3rd party OzB sellers of Woolies E-gift vouchers 7.5% off. Have been buying from one for years. PM me if you want.

    • Hi,

I believe such treads now banned from classifieds..

      • Correct, unless they are one-off sales.

  • This sounds like a responsible retailer making security checks on accounts to make sure they are legitimate.
It's a shame that JB HiFi doesn't do more of this.

if you are an online shopper make sure you have PayPal as most sellers now you can pay with PayPal that way you are not giving out your credit card details
