Affordable Barbecue for Small Apartment

Hi Guys, would appreciate any suggestions for portable barbecue for a small balcony. I am living in a city, and have small balcony. Looking for a affordable barbecue, as the winter is coming and we would be having fee guest over. We do have a built-in grill in kitchen but my wife wants me to keep this barbeque business outside. Stinking the whole house and resulting divorce is the last thing I want.

Cheapest working option.

Webber Baby Q. I have one and it is the best thing around. Don’t go too cheap, you’ll regret it when it won’t start first time, or the meat sticks or you have to clean it.

Rays outdoors has 15% off Webber at the moment

Get a real bbq, a charcoal bbq

  • I've been thinking about exactly the same thing recently.

I like the look of the Baby Q - however I'd like to clarify one thing.

The Weber site states that it has cast iron cooking grills, however the Rays site states "These Weber Baby Q grills are also porcelain coated which provides you with a non-stick cook"

Could anyone clarify that they are cast iron? I really hate non-stick surfaces.

    A couple of other things.

Firstly, are there any decent charcoal BBQs in this sort sort of size? I've always associated BBQs with charcoal for some reason!

Secondly, I wouldn't be using mine on a veranda, but under a carport at the side of the apartment. This has a timber roof etc.

Would it be safe to use a small BBQ in that environment?

  • How do you guys get charoal flavor out of electric grill?? Smoke gun??

    • When the fat drips on the bars underneath it smokes, then you have the flavour. Same when you use briquettes, it's not the briquette to give you flavour

  • my wife wants me to keep this barbeque business outside.

Why do you assume that outside = balcony?
    This means OUTSIDE OUTSIDE

    Cheapest working option.

Why must you host your guests? Are you a big shot? Mafia boss?
Why can't you be the guest and go somewhere? It's $0.
Pretty sure your wife would agree to this…
No need to wash plates/cups/tongs and no potential smoke/smell/noise issues with neighbours!

  • For a balcony, electric bbqs can be quite practical and compact and save the hassles of getting refills and storing a gas cylinder.

  • Go the echurrasco.
