Cheap Postage from Singapore ?

I'm travelling to Singapore soon on a cheap hand luggage only ticket. I might want to post things home if I go shopping and my purchases take me over the carry-on luggage weight limit.
Two questions…

  1. What is the cheapest way to send stuff home?

  2. Frequently when I buy things on eBay they are sent from either China or Singapore. A lot of the things I buy are less than $1 with post included. How do they pay such low postage rates? Are those rates available to others?

      1. No it isn't.
      2. The OP is asking about Singapore to Australia not the other way round.

How much is a checked bag for one way?

If it's something like $30, I'd do that and buy a cheap duffle bag to put your purchases in.

Or buy luggage for both ways. I doubt it'd be that cheap

The only way to post mail articles to Australia from Singapore is by singpost or a partner that streams to auspost.

      • No it isn't.

It is for mail articles. Auspost is the only organisation authorised by legislation to carry outbound mail articles.

        • I don't think it is. I mean definite "mail articles" but I posted a parcel back to the UK recently using DHL.

Things are couriered to me all the time via TNT or FedEx. Maybe AusPost partners with them but it's all done through them and a marked DHL vehicle picked it up.

    1. Probably pay for check in luggage for the return.

    2. Unlikely. Those companies have high volume arrangements and deliver straight to the dispatch centre.
