Bugs Are Falling from My Kitchen Rangehood

Guys, I have recently moved in to my BRAND NEW house. And for the past few days I've observed noises(Couple of times in a month) from my roof. Today, few bugs are falling from my kitchen rangehood. Dn't know what to do. I hate bugs/rats or any insects. Do you think my builder will help me as it is a new house ? Also any suggestion on permanent solution for these issues like pest control ? How much they will charge ?. Please help me. Thanks

    What sort of bugs?

  • If the builder contributed to the issue, then maybe if you consult them?

If it appears to be a serious issue, then you may as well seek pest control assistance seeing that it's a new house.

Ideally try to find the source and any patterns of anys pests that you notice, since it may end up being an easy fix or they ended on your property as a swarm due to weather conditions.

    • I'm waiting for my builder response. Looks like they entered into my Rangehood vent due to weather change. But I'm really worried about other insects which may enter in future if I don't act now. How much generally pest control teams charge. Any names please? And do they really effective in identifying source and fixing it. Thanks for your time.

      • I'm not from Victoria so can't really recommend anyone. If it is as you say, then it sounds like you need some sort of filter so that bugs don't easily enter.

  • I would chat to the builder about it to see if he can help, he would be in the best position to investigate.

  • I suggest you live in a high rise apartment instead of house or try to look at the bugs in a friendly way. you will find more and more coming for the rest of your life in house in australia. there is no bug proof house here….
they are actually very cute if you see them in a different angel.

    • huntsmans are no cute & they're not angel

      • I'd rather have a huntsman than thousands of small insects. Give your local huntsman a name and they seem less scary.

Place fry pan below, let them fall into it
Then cook them up and eat them.

    Yum yum

      or better yet make icecream

    This is simple.

    1. Place several pages from The Economist magazine on your kitchen benchtop.
    2. Carefully spread vanilla ice cream over the pages.
    3. The bugs will be attracted to their natural habitat and fall on to the ice cream.
    4. Collect the bug-infused ice cream before it melts and place into ice cream tubs.
    5. Sell the high protein ice cream to the geniuses at The Economist magazine who will then offer it for free to ozbargainers.
  • I know of multiple people who have had rats die in their ceiling and maggots fall down through light fittings. Could they be maggots?

    • It's only a new house so I wouldn't have thought there would be enough time for that?

    Set the fan to 11.

  • Yeah we had a increase in flies all of a sudden and i opened the rangehood and saw 20 dead flies or so, shit happens, things get in dude. Make fly traps and use cockroach baits

Saute over a low heat until soft and translucent, then serve on a bed of fresh autumnal vegetables.

  • Do I have to be Captain Obvious? Get a few pest control quotes.
Get them to do a thorough pest treatment for everything so that would be rodents, cockroaches, spiders.

And google to find out what is falling from the rangehood.
