Steering Wheel Controls for Android Head Unit

Has anyone used this type of steering wheel control before?
Can't work out what the box is for if they are just blutooth remotes.

I have a xtrons stereo and I'm finding it too hard to switch between waze and apple music while driving just to skip songs so I need some steering wheel controls and these seem the most functional but I didnt really want to wire anything in.

  I bought a similar unit (still Hoxiao, but a smaller remote) to connect up to my Eonon head unit. It is not a bluetooth remote, despite their claims. It has a wireless receiver unit which has to be wired into your headunit (4 wires).
  There are other units on AliExpress which are proper Bluetooth remotes and do not need a hardwired receiver but I don't know how well they work.

  Ah. So the box goes to the head unit but the remotes are still wireless.
  That’s what I was missing.
