HyperX Cloud II Mic not detecting any input and randomly disconnecting

Hey all,

Last night my HyperX Cloud 2 suddenly stopped working properly. No issue with hearing audios but the mic keeps randomly dropping out after a couple mins of use or sometimes after 20 mins.

Had this headset since October last year, which is not long ago.

Completely lost what's causing the issue because after restarting the computer it would work again then stops working again.

Initially I thought it's discord, so I started talking on Pubg team chat then the mic stopped working after a couple mins again…

I have updated the firmware, unplugging, replugging, uninstall/re-install the driver but nothing is working.

My desktop is pretty new.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Thanks!

  • Hard to say for sure what it is obviously but it reminds me of headphones when headphone plugs, usually 3.5mm with portable device, stop and start working depending on how you position them. I always assume that's caused by wire insulation wearing away internally and the cable needs to be replaced.

  • There is a common issue with the controller failing in the usb connection cable which handles the mic. If it's not a damaged cable that would be my next thought.

  • Have you tried unplugging the detachable microphone from the headset and then plugging the microphone back into the headset? The detachable microphone may just be loose or not seated properly.
