GearBest Offering Only Partial Refund for Item That Never Arrived

The Android box i ordered from them in February never arrived. I emailed them and got a reply saying they would contact me within 24 hours. I waited 5 days and got no reply, so i opened a dispute with Paypal. Gearbest told me they could reship if i paid them 65RMB. :/ "if you repays 65RMB we can reship Please confirm we can go ahead with this compensation."
I told them i want a refund. They then said they would need to investigate the matter. I told them any problem in shipping is theirs, not mine and just give me a refund. They replied stating…

'We are extremely sorry to inform you that the delivery of your package was unsuccessful and your item was sent back to us. Your goods are back in our warehouse. This is a delivery error that is unfortunately beyond our control.
Please understand that in such case we can only compensate you partially as shipping fees are charged by the shipping agents. As a gesture of good will we can offer you the following solution to resolve this issue: We can refund you 25USD to your original payment account.'

I paid them 34.63USD for the item (Android box). Will Paypal make them refund me in full if i keep declining their crappy offers. I have never had a Paypal dispute before so don't know what to expect.

Thanks.

Ignore them, PayPal will force them to refund you in full. I've had a similar experience with a different Chinese store who kept insisting partial refund.

Just make sure you don't cancel your PayPal dispute if they tell you to.

    • Thanks a lot Ughhh. I have no way of knowing if they even sent it.Last time i buy from them.

Also credit card chargeback if the above fails.

        • Thanks mate.

  • Go to your local PO with yourID, ask them to check the nooks/crannies where they store parcels. I did this on a Thursday and presto! Monday morning the delivery van came around early with 4 long-lost parcels. Cheers, AA

I tried that once at mine and they told me to piss off

      • seriously?

        • Yup told me they do their job to deliver items

      • Never had one react like that when I've asked that question in the past. I had the same experience as "aarn" - they looked around and found the package I was waiting for. I had not received a "we tried to deliver" message but I thought the package was overdue so I went to the post office in the hope it was there. I have also had a couple of occassions lately where packages, from several places, arrive on the same day. I wonder if they are holding onto them for a short period to see if anything else turns up?

  • In my case, Gearbest claim the item is back with them, after a shipping stuff up. I don't believe they sent it. The item was an email only special and a really great price that they found they couldn't deliver on. ( That's me theory , anyhoo's.) They must like me as they are still sending me emails even though i have unsubscribed. Maybe it takes a couple of attempts.

Chinese sellers don't seem to understand the responsibility to deliver rest with them. I had a similar experience with a Chinese seller on eBay who insisted that I had to bear the cost of returning a faulty item & only offered me partial refund. I rejected every single one of those offers & persisted with my eBay dispute. Eventually, eBay decided the dispute in my favour.

Definitely DO NOT accept any partial refund. Any idea what the delivery error was? If you provided them with the correct address, then the responsibility lies entirely with them. Whether their shipping agent stuffs up or not, is still not your problem, and up to them to sort out.

Like others have said, lodge a paypal dispute soon if you are getting nowhere with their GB customer service, and DO NOT cancel the paypal dispute no matter what they say. This has happened to me once with an ebay seller, telling me they will send replacement etc but only after I cancel by ebay or paypal dispute. So I foolishly did that, and needless to say I never got my replacement
