So I notice SBS is only showing Aussie games for the world cup and some select matches; Optus has all the other games. Does anyone here know how this works for non-Optus customers? Is there some way to sign up for just the WC? What's the cheapest way to legally watch all the WC games, whether it's with some Optus deal or some other provider?

I'd probably say if there is some games in the group stage you really want to watch that arent on SBS just pay the $15 for that month.
SBS will be showing most if not all the of games from the final 8 onwards so you only need to pay for a month. Otherwise the few games you really want to see i'd suggest hitting up the pub?

Like i dont mind paying, i just want to know where/who is the cheapest option to do like you said. I think for the Euros i paid about $10 for the month as well and that was fine; just looking for something like that

if you have a partner just use the 14-day trials and it should get you though the WC group stages :)
Pretty good idea. YEah i noticed the 14 day trial thing when i went to their site and i wondered actually if that will still be there when the WC is on? If it is, for sure that's a top idea, cheers chap!

You can get a 14 day free Optus trial apparently.
They are playing just under half of all the games on sbs.

Do you know anyone who has a optus phone or internet? The World cup coverage comes free with the package including the premier league.
Just use there account if they don't watch the world cup.
I got the missus to switch to an Optus $40 sim-only play for this very reason! I've recently purchased a chromecast and Optus sport is very good on the TV.
I think i had something similar to you in mind. I was also thinking about the chromecast thing; what i want to do is have the game on my pc but also stream it to a TV. So this can be done on chromecast hey?
You can watch Optus Sport on PC and Chromecast (but not both at the same time on the one account). You can use the smartphone app to cast the game to the Chromecast and watch it on your TV.

Optus this morning announced $15/month subscription to their football streaming to anyone, not just current Optus mobile/internet customers.
