Best Device for Optus Sport?

I currently use an older 3rd gen Apple TV and Airplay from an iPhone or Mac to watch Optus Sport (Premier League) and it doesn't look great. With the World Cup coming, I'd like to know which is the best device to watch Optus Sport - Fetch TV, Apple TV or another device?

  • Fetch box is good for me.

  • Chromecast 2 does the job for me.

  • Fetch Mini from Optus. $5pm, no lock-in. Stream is H.265 while it's H.264 on the non-Fetch devices. Also, you can watch another stream simultaneously on another non-Fetch device, which you can't do with two non-Fetch devices

  • Chromecast Ultra.

  • That's odd. I watch the EPL on the same device and it looks good.

How fast is your internet connection?

    • 100/40. It looks ok but just not high def. I compared a game between AirPlay and SBS HD once and SBS looked way better.

  • Fetch Mini or Fetch Mighty box is the best device to watch Optus Sport. You must get one from Optus - a retail box will not work.

  • I either watch it on my iphone/ipad through the app OR i watch it on TV via Fetch. I tried to chromecast it from app to the big screen once upon a time and it was SOOOOO laggy that I gave up after a few minutes. I rang optus technical support and that didn't get anywhere.

I have 50/20 NBN by the way.

Apple TV 4th gen or 4K. Both have an amazing Optus Sport app that works brilliantly. We’ve never had an issue with using it, plus you get an excellent device to stream any other services on it. If you’re used to your current Apple TV then this is a great upgrade.
