New TV Vs New Monitor

Hey guys looking for advice, i have recently finished building a beast of a computer that i use for gaming which is connected to a 5 or 6+ yo 60" Samsung tv, the 1080 tv is now my weakest link so im looking to upgrade and my budget is $800ish.

I am living in a room atm so the so will only be using 1 screen, im not interested in watching tv but i am always watching youtube.

I cant decide whether to buy a new 55" 4k tv or or 32 Inch monitor. I have been looking at the kogan 55" with hdr, and havnt looked at any monitors yet.

Im interested to see what you would do in my situation?

In the same or similar scenario will probably pick up a Hisense 55N6 or TCL with HDR in the 50 - 55" range. Otherwise I'll just "bum" it and get a 48" JVC or something from eBay but no HDR.. we shall see

Kogan is tempting especially with the new HDR Android TV range but waiting for reviews from here and whirlpool forums.

The latest 60" Sony X690E sale was a bummer but honestly at nearly $900 + postage because I don't have a car or transportation it was a bit on the steep end of my budget.

Anything can happen especially with 2018 World Cup in Russia coming up.. so there may be tv deals there may be not.

    • 22 months and you still have not purchased.

Last month Hisense 55N7 was posted here for $808 delivered.

      • Yeah I know.. life gets in the way and other stuff.. most of this is just future research for a just in case scenario.. unexpected bills and mishaps means things gets postponed.. As an example a phone I bought for myself on my birthday last November I finally just activated it now haha lol.. this is along also on my back log of things as well as buy a computer or laptop and maybe save for an iPad pro also but only if I can snag another sub $400 deal like last time (gumtree bargaining)

Yeah and that is just the tip of it.. home needs renovation.. groceries and pantry needs to be constantly stocked yada yada hah lol. At least I have a good handy list of tv's to kind of choose from now before I only really had a handful.. now it's much more documented.. honestly though I am just waiting for prices to come more down as it is not really a necessity more a luxury at this point. My tablet does everything I need I just get the tingles or urges to sometimes play a console game because my housemate owns one and keeps shoving it in my face almost every night.

But honestly PUBG mobile on android is all I need right now.. hmm anyways brb discord and Android PUBG haha lol :) ;) ;) :)

        • Late October may see a reduction on the N7.

Should have the new 'fridge paid for by then :)

          Best of luck!

        • @Dave Id: haha awesome all good

  • Dell outlet regularly has a P4317Q monitor for sale for $600-700. They also have a 55" C5517H model they sell for around the same price $700+.

4K is pretty demanding even on a GTX 1080 Ti so I'd personally recommend a 1440p 144hz monitor. TV's also tend to have way higher input delay then monitors.
