Price for similar specs: Small-form PC vs NUC vs Lappy

For similar specs (and performance), which of the following will be the cheapest and most expensive?

  • PC (small form ie. HTPC)
  • Intel-NUC
  • Laptop

Small form is a must.

Apology if the question is way too broad and general; just want to use the feedback as my basis of my findings.

If you wish to poll, the consideration is as follow:

You need a small form computer and you will only be using this computer mainly for browsing the net and streaming youTube; so nothing fancy.
You want to take your money as far as you can, so bang-for-buck computer probably preferable.

So the poll will be: With the above consideration, which type will you get?

Is your poll to indicate least or most expensive

    • Ah my bad … let me fix that.

    2nd hand laptop.

    • I second that, $60 15" laptop + extra ram and SSD here. That's the best bang for buck I can think of.

      • Thanks; feedback taken :)

  • Hello PotatoCouch

    • stalker much?

      • Are people really still doing the whole "much" thing still?
I am sure all the cool kids in the street have moved onto something else in-between feeling unfulfilled and offended, by now.

  • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/338510 - if you want brand new, this is a great bang for buck machine. You will have to wait for the next 20% off sale with Dell included. These sales are very common. SSD will make the computer faster. My rule of thumb with buying computers is to buy one with an SSD in it for the OS and frequently used programs. A hard drive can be used for storage and less used programs.

  • I think you don’t even know what you want…..

    • let me think …

  • Do you want a desktop or a laptop?
Little point in comparing value if you want the ability for the device to be portable
