Gold Coast Theme Parks

Hi all. Been going to the GC for years and never paid more than $80 for a VIP pass/12 month pass (with Groupon discounts or buy 3 get one free) Missed going last year and am now looking at passes and cannot believe they have jumped to $169 each even with discounts! Anyone got any hot tips for a bigger discount or will they drop leading up to 30/06/18 (we are going early June)
Thanks bargainers!

Yep, thinking the same thing. I am guessing you want the Village Roadshow ones and not Dreamworld ones. I think there were Groupon vouchers for Movieworld VIP passes end of last year till end of June, but lately they have been around $140. You can always go to Dreamworld instead, I think Scoopon has them now for $74, but I think you should be able to easily find a 10% voucher from somewhere.

Given Dreamworld patronage has fallen off a cliff you can expect higher prices from their only real competition.

If you are wanting a 12 month pass and are not a QLD resident $169 Groupon (with 10-15% off they run every so often) is the best you can do.

They (ThemeParks.com.au) are offering a deal on 4 7 day passes for a total of $499 (save $97 off web RRP) or you can get a three day pass from ExperienceOz/Optus Perks for $101.15.

This new pricing strategy has been active since before christmas and was not undertaken lightly, the days of $100 annual passes for VRTP is over.

Roadshow/Warner Bros increased pricing strategy is apparently permanent as they try to differentiate themselves from Dreamworld, so they basically doubled their prices suddenly a few months ago. The best way to get them I have found is if you rent a SUV for at least 7 days from Thrifty at Gold Coast Airport, you can have 2 passes for free. (Can actually cost less than buying the tickets outright and you get to drive a new-ish car around for a week). We did this in November last year and asked (very nicely) if we could 'buy' (ie slip some cash) some more for the kids, and the guy said they had so many of them, that we could just have them for free. It saved us hundreds! No guarantees so a bit of a risk, but maybe worth a shot.

NRMA currently has an adults at kids prices season pass for dreamworld, $79 use as often as you want until December. Also a Three park, 3 day pass Movie World, SeaWorld, WetnWild for $104. I know because I purchased both today.

  • Thanks all. I’ll look into all of the above. We are doing both dreamworld and sea world/Movieworld so it looks like the old cheap family holiday has dramatically increased! (4 kids 🙄)

  • Hi all, we are looking at these as well and am looking for best value.

Our Village/Warner VIP passes expire in June 30th. Thinking about the Dreamworld $71 ones until 24 Dec but not sure what to do after that.

Would the Village/Warner ones be cheaper til June if bought in Jan? They seem to work on 12 months from date of purchase though.

Not fussed on whether it’s Dreamworld or the other 3, just looking for best value.
