BEWARE: eBay Super Sunday's $1 Final Value Listing

Just a tip after I was hit with this - if you want to make edits to a listing after posting, it may be considered 're-listing'. Re-listing is not covered under the program, so here's my situation:

Listed Sunday 18 March 9:18am
Ended Sunday 18 March 9:20am for edits
Listed Sunday 18 March 9:22am

Charged full final value fees.

eBay wouldn't budge on this.

Try and avoid my mistake! I'm pretty angry about it TBH. There's no warning that the final value fees will have changed etc - it's just a sneaky revenue raiser for eBay.

You're right. My fault. It's worth pointing that out because it adds a lot of helpful new information to my post that already stated that. While we're being unhelpful, nice complete lack of punctuation and capitalisation. You know, because you like unhelpful and unnecessary comments.

        heres the T&C
        https://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/promo/6316

maybe your account did not meet eBay’s minimum performances standards are not eligible to participate in this promotion.
maybe you didn't create single quantity listings.

complete lack of punctuation and capitalisation.

        you are kindly welcome.
id like to thank you for being such a kind and lovely member here
if you had the same attitude to ebay support i can see why they didnt waive the costs

No worries, your original post pretty much mirrored eBay support.

I'm not sure he's actually right. I used the 'Super Sunday' extensively. I was doing it every Sunday for a few months. Every Sunday I was re-listing what didn't sell from the previous Sunday. There was never any problem for me. And I look up terms and conditions now, and I don't see anything about 're-lists' being forbidden.

My guess is you didn't actually click 'accept offer' before listing? Or you were selling in a category that wasn't eligible or maybe you listed it as selling more than one? But the terms and conditions are here, and I don't see anything about relistings being forbidden (unless I'm missing something, which is very possible…):

        • I can guarantee I'm right. The eBay chat person quote: "The promotion applies until the item sells/relists."

I've checked and found that the item was relisted that's the reason you've been charged full final value fee on this item.
          10:13:51 UTC Tejveer
Relisted items don't come any Promotional offer.
          10:15:05 UTC bargainquick
This is very unclear. I wasn't aware it had relisted - how and when had it relisted? It was listed on the 18th March and sold on the 24th March 6 days later - how could it re-list?
          10:16:04 UTC bargainquick
The listing was clearly a 30 day auction. How can it have re-listed after 6 days?
          10:17:12 UTC Tejveer
The item was originally listed on 18-Mar-18 09:18:41 and was ended on 18-Mar-18 09:20:41.
          10:17:33 UTC Tejveer
Then it was relisted on 18-Mar-18 09:22:42 .
          10:18:32 UTC bargainquick
Are you seriously suggesting the auction was listed, ended, and re-listed, on the same day, within 4 minutes, and therefore eBay is eligible for final value fees? I would like to escalate this, it was clearly a simple edit made on the item within moments.
          10:19:12 UTC Tejveer
I can understand this however the item was relisted.

        • @ronafios: My mistake. That just sounds bizarre. I guess now that re-listing wasn't a problem for me because I was doing it on the following Sunday, what counted as a new promotion, rather than all in the one 'promotion period.' I hope it works out for you and you get your fees back.

        • @garworsby:

I reckon I've done that a time or two - I haven't noticed being charged full fees either though. I'm sure you can get that credited by someone with a bit more power than the 1st level support though. I've complained a few times for credit fees successfully.

Why couldn't you edit the original listing instead of end and relist it? Then ebay wouldn't have treat it as an new listing.

For some reason the detail section was locked and couldn’t be edited. I reckon this is part of a strategy to catch people ending and relisting when they want to make an edit. Hence the warning.

I thought the best way to check was to see if your items were listed in the Promo/Offers section for the $1 listings and not part of the monthly free listings (that you pay FVF fees for).

Eg, list/relisted item 123456789, and then check under "Sunday Only: Pay $1 When you Sell!", that it's Used Left 1/0. If you see the Used/Left increased instead in the default "Free Fixed Price & Auction Listings" then your listing didn't go under the promo offer.

I know thats a bit confusing to describe, but best I could do!

  • Slightly off-topic question, but I wonder if just everyone can use this deal? Or is this deal invitation only?

From what I hear it's no longer available anymore - I haven't seen it the last 2 Sundays personally.

  • So what you have to do is "sell similar" item and change the listing just a little
