I've been waiting for a price drop on the LG 75"

Samsung TV's use Tizen which is buggy, insecure, not many apps and crashes a lot.

Panasonic uses firefoxOS which is questionable.

Sony uses uses AndroidTV which is good.

LG uses webOS which is the best.

Not sure if the Smart part is important to you or not, however I've had a Sony for about 10 years which is used daily and I believe LG are top notch too.

Have some Panasonic Plasma TV's which have lasted a decade too.

Samsung are rubbish and don't last long.

    • Thank you for your comment. Smart tv, 4K HRD etc is all things I would like, if possible. What’s is your thoughts on the hisense n7? Looking for specific models if possible.

      • Hisense has their own VIDAA U Operating System. Personally it sounds like something crap they've chucked together, probably as bad as Samsung Tizen.

I would go for Sony with AndroidTv or LG with webOS.

        • Android TV is super slow, Google hasn't really optimised it at all so it's still facing same issue as Android but lacking the RAM like we have in mobile phones to accomendate all the back ground processes.

WebOS is definitely the best TV OS out there now

        • Surely a quality tv-box like xiaomi mi-box international edition (under aud 100). Or apple TV… if that is your thing.. is a far superior solution than even trying to rely on built-in smart capabilities? It seems they are all deficient in some or many ways (regardless of TV brand) and a separate unit is a much better idea. Am I missing something here?

        • @minksta: You're generally right in that having a seperate media box would negate the need for Smart TV functions however there are some good solutions out there. Some of the entry/mid level Sony TVs have Opera TV OS on them (now called VEWD) which looks pretty basic but works fantastic.

It's quick, highly responsive, loads fast, no button or switch-over lag and has app capability of pretty much everything you want. Netflix, YouTube etc just run flawlessly on it so no longer need a setup box.

I don't get the obsession with the laggy and slow Android TV when this is a much much better solution overall.

        • @Hybroid:
Aha, thanks for the info, too easy to think you know everything! Good to know inbuilt smart TV function can be up to par..
