      (ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED)

    • +8

Well I'd hope someone does, considering it's a bargain

    • +2

      Not this shit again.

  • +9

Not as good as this deal where you can mod

    • +10

So you would prefer to pay for them? Or not get any games at all? I'm confused? Or do you expect them to give you hundreds of dollars worth of games each month?

      • -1

Well they're both ps3 games that got ported over. And both ps3 versions are 2 for 10 at end, and that's a physical version you can keep forever. So um, forgive me for not seeing tremendous value.

        • +5

I'll let Sony know you don't want any free games, unless the value is over say $50. That way you won't get free games every month, only now and then. Would you like that?

        • @OnlinePred: "free"

    • +9

We pay ~$8 per month for our online access, and usually we're given back ~$15-25 street value in games, and that's if you're only using a single PS4. If you've got a Vita or an old PS3 for your kids, you're really looking at barest minimum $30 of value per month, usually better when there's an old AAA game or two in the offing across platforms.

This is what we get for having spoiled kids for several generations. No matter how decent a situation is, certain people will always find a way to whine.

      • -5

The Vita and ps3 argument is irrelevant now as they're ditching then and not dropping the price at all.

And since you can buy both the two lead games for 5 bucks a pop at EB and actually own then forever, that's a better deal.

Especially when the online is broke all the time and used to be free at that.

But also, yeah, I guess I am spoiled. I didn't get a ps3 until September 2011, I was on my ps2 entirely until then, and then when plus debuted and offered amazing value once upon a time I really was spoiled, whereas now it's just shoite and I'm disappointed constantly.

        • +7

You get a minimum of two free games per month plus your online service for the cost of a single Subway Veggie Delight foot long which your body will take nutrients from, then turn to poo within a period of 12 hours.

It's roughly the same price as 2 poached eggs on toast with butter at a Melbourne cafe.

It's half the price of a movie ticket for an adult to a single ~2.5 hr film.

But if you're so significantly disappointed by the perceived lack of value, and have so many numerous grievances, then don't continue to pay for the service. Once you've stopped paying for it you can then stop grizzling about something that no longer affects you.

        • +1

Rayman Legends on PS4 is part of the 2 for $50 deal at EB Games, so it's $25 not $5.

Beyond: Two Souls (and Heavy Rain) is currently on that same deal, so you could get the two main games plus Heavy Rain for $50 physical copy at EB, or pay $80 (PS Plus subscription) to have them available to play for 12 months, along with another two 'main' games each month. (I'm guessing Heavy Rain will pop up as a freebie at some point this year. I could be wrong, but it's a gamble I'm willing to take).

It's a no brainer for me.

        • +1

@karnage1020: Heavy Rain will be added to AUS PS Plus eventually. That's because it is currently free for SEA (South East Asia) PS Plus. SEA PS Plus didn't get Trackmania Turbo this month (and get Heavy Rain instead), but generally the PS Plus in various regions will eventually get the same set of games.

        • +2

@TheDukeOfNukem What an interesting yarn. I came here for your console acquisition history and was not disappointed.

        • Umm where can i get these games for a 5er and i never have issues online..

      • IPYF, the ~$15-25 street value is only applicable if the person actually wants the game(s). For example, for me, I own and played Mad Max months ago and none of the other games I actually want to play, so for April, PS Plus effectively has zero real benefit for me (didn't get to play any online game this month so far).

I've had PS Plus for 8 months now. I've played Infamous Second Son, MGS V: TPP, Bloodborne. Even for those games, I've not played any one of them for more than 5% of the entire game. No doubt those are great games, but they just aren't really for me (and that's why I didn't purchase them). I think Sony is smart with PS Plus free games. They have not put first party PS4 games (games made by Sony studios) on PS Plus yet (as far as I know). So those games retain better value (and/or most people actually own those games).

PS Plus is good value for money. However, judging the values of the giveaway games based on market price isn't a good way to measure the true value of those games to the customers. Games the customer already owned don't offer any real benefit. Games the customer didn't purchase (and ended up getting them via PS Plus) obviously weren't worth the market price - otherwise the customer would have bought them. PS Plus free games could also be ones the customer already owned (doubtful the customer would very happy when that happens).

I still believe getting PS Plus was the right choice (and good value for money) for me. However, it is getting a bit tiring to see a post about PS Plus free games and XBox Live Gold free games every month. It seems to be more a post to get free +ve votes from console owners.

      • +1

If you only play casually once every fortnight. Zero point with PSN sub

They need switch the model to cater for casuals.

  • +4

Upvote for posting last months games too! I always forget!

  • +2

Was kind of hoping for God of War III… To be free this month.

  • +3

LOL now Playstation is just (profanity) with me. That's three months in a row containing PS4 games I already owned.

    • +5

      Never pay for games.

    • +1

Upgrade your hard drive, and get the digital version. It saves changing game discs. I bought a 4tb portable drive, that can be cracked open and used in ps4, for only about $150 . Be careful and be sure to check drive is compatible. I wish all my disc games were digital tbh, just saves so much time in changing discs over plus I think the digital will always load much faster than from disc.

      • +3

No need to crack it open anymore - since early last year it can be plugged straight into the USB port.

        • I keep forgetting about this option. Luckily the Pro has a USB port at the back of the console.
          Might make use of this..

  • This will be a bit unpleasant for anyone who pre-ordered Detroit: Become Human

    • +2

      Why?

      • Sony is clearly trying to build and chain the hype for Detroit by giving Beyond this month (similar style of game made by same developers). The only issue is that Beyond has been quite a polarising game since its release, with people either really liking it, or absolutely hating it. Think of it a bit like Vegemite.

So essentially 50% of the people that preordered Detroit and will now be playing Beyond may perhaps regret their order.

      • +1

IIRC Beyond and Heavy Rain are the pre-order bonuses for Detroit. If it was a part of their pre-order reason, to have it free in the same month as release would be a bit annoying.

    • +2

Lol people who pre-order David Cage games deserve all they get

  • -1

meh.. gonna skip this month again

  • +2

I enjoyed Beyond on PS3, but I don't think I'd want to play it a second time.

    • -6

      Cool sorry!

    • +1

Only play it if you want to experience the story in chronological order.

Has all bonuses in it too, including bonus levels.

      Graphics improved as well.

So, probably not worth double dipping, if you are not bothered by the above.

  • +1

cmon some free psvr games. :(

  • Interesting timing for beyond considering Detroit is coming out soon.

    • Was the whole point, build more hype.
Can be a double edged sword though, those that aren't sure they like the genre will probably be turned away.

      • Well they weren't even that interested to begin with so.

  • Got both games for PS4…hmm..

  • Cool. Rayman Legends will he fun. I can also hopefully sell my ps3 copy for BTS.

    • EBgames will give you 70c trade in!

      • Err i traded in one time with ebgames… never again.

  • Are the games free forever after u get them?

    • No you play untill you keep PS plus subscription active. Once your subscription finished your games gone forever ever ever…

      • So if your subscription lapses… You don't hey them back if you resubscribe?

        • +7

You get them back upon resubscription - I've done it.

        • @AlanHB: but within some time limit. I am not sure about exact time but if you pass that time then you loose it.

        • @Enjj0y: I "think" for me it was about 3-4 months off…maybe more. I remember having a hard time finding authoritative information on it.

        • @Enjj0y:

          *lose

3 seconds of Googling led to this. You get the PS Plus content back if you resubscribe. However Sony "may close your account if you don’t use it for 24 months".

    • +1

playable until your Plus subscription expires

  • -2

Pretty disappointing especially the vita games offered.

  • Shit thanks for the reminder… Totally forgot about nabbing the April ones.

  • +1

Nice one, I've played Rayman Legends on PS3 but really loved it, so this is a great addition.

Beyond I was always interested in but never felt the price was low enough… so free is definitely good.

    Another good month for me…!

  • Rayman should be good. Thanks OP. I've been wanting to try Rayman ps4 for some time now. I loved it on previous consoles .

  • +1

Why do people get salty about people telling other people that there are free games?

    • Tradition :p

  • Disappointing month after a few good ones. That Rayman game is for young kids. Beyond looked interesting but I never played past the opening section (got it with Heavy Rain).

  • +2

When I read the lineup for May I was like, nice, I've never owned Beyond Two Souls, that looks a fairly interesting game. Then I saw Rayman and thought, ooh double nice. I've owned Rayman but sold it and didn't get into. But I know it's a quality game and maybe some day i'll get around to playing it.

Then I jumped into comments and oh my there's a lot of bitterness.

To be honest I do understand the bitterness. I could easily be unhappy with this selection too. I could easily take the point of view that I don't have a high interest in either game and had no intention of buying either game. But I don't see the point in that. I see that Sony are TRYING, and they are giving away older AAA games. That's the best we can ask for from them. And we got 2 older AAA games, which now seems to be the trend moving forward, which I think is great.

Of course the older AAA games will have a relatively low value and would have lost the hype around them. Maybe even they've been surpassed in terms of quality by other games in their genre.

Of course there's a chance that you own the games, or have owned them, and I presume that chance increases with the degree of how attractive the game is to you.

But I remember that PS+ isn't designed for me. It could be, maybe. I had an idea years ago that instead of a game they could give us a bigger discount on some games, or perhaps give us a selection to choose from, but seemingly that's not how they're going to do things.

It's really best just to accept that PS+ is what it is. You pay for online and you get free games, and you get lower sale prices - which are often very well priced. Hopefully over the course of a year some will be of some interest.

    • +2

It's a combination of whiners and the generally selfish. The whiners will never be happy because they feel like PS+ either used to be better, or has never presented good value, or maybe they think that we need a reminder that online gaming on PC is 'free' because surely all the console peasants have forgotten that since last month.

Then there are the selfish ones who are like "This is a 'bad' month because a. I subjectively don't like these games, or b. I already bought these games". Can't help people like this because they feel value only exists when it's directly relevant to them.

But, the part I hate the most about our monthly PS+ carry-on is that when it's a 'good' month with an older AAA game or two that many people can dig (like Bloodborne, or Ratchet and Clank, or Mad Max) then there's general silence while everyone quietly enjoys the additional value, until the next month when the bellyaching starts up again in earnest because there's not a AAA game every month (because it's totally reasonable to expect you'll get given GTA 5 and 10 million Shark Cash credits or whatever for ~$8 a month)

      • +1

Rarely comment.. but had to to say IPYF: you've hit the nail on the head.

  • I bought B2S on PS3 when it was new, but never got around to playing it. Reviews were middling so I kept it low on my priority list. I guess now I'll play the PS4 version.

  • Rayman is a great game.

  • Meh; I'm actually running out of space on the 1TB PS4 drive and have trouble fitting in decent game time on all the free games I got so not getting more games is fine for a month..

    • Just add the free PS+ games to your library, no need to download and install straight away.

  • I bought Plus for the kids but don't use myself
Do you need to actually download the games each month to 'own' them
Can you redeem them on PSN but not install
Can you redeem prior months now?
Thank you for helping with my newb ??

    • Do you need to actually download the games each month to 'own' them -NO
Can you redeem them on PSN but not install - YES
Can you redeem prior months now? YOU CAN GET APRILS UNTIL ABOUT 11PM TONIGHT

  • I tried subscribing to plus for 12 months and the order & pay button just would not work for me. But then I spotted another button on the main plus screen offering 15 months for the price of 12. That worked.

  • Shit (profanity) I forgot April's games :( :(

    • same!!! usually it's a bit later in the month :(

  • It’s always on the 1st Tuesday of the month at around 9:00pm
