  • yes, perhaps not consistent 60fps depending on the title/settings

Should I just stay using my 2K at 144?

      • Subjective, i would/am

      • Use NVIDIA Geforce Experience with that card and see what it recommends as optimal. I find it fairly helpful.

      • 1440 144hz > 4K 60hz any day of the week imo

  • Yep. The 1080ti is the "affordable" benchmark card to run 4K (apart from Titan)

Should I just stay using my 2K at 144?

      • Depends on the size of your monitor and also your budget.

In my view, if you really want to capture a 4K experience, you either get a 40" 4K60p HDR Monitor or a 4K 55" TV that can handle 40K60p.

I have the 1080 and an LG OLED B7 4K and can it is awesome. I play Forza Horizon 3 and the advantage of using the PC is that is support 60FPS whereas the Xbox One X only supports 4K 30FPS.

        Cheers

Personally I'd prefer 144hz at 1440p, but whatever jingles your jangles.

    Is this this a troll?
1080 ti will run most games at high at 60+ fps

The PSU might be slightly underpowered though imo

    • Look at benchmarks, whether or not the 1080ti hits 60fps is 50/50. 1-2FPS above 60 on tomb raider, 1-5FPS under 60 on GTAIV and Ashes of Singularity. 60 should really be the bare minimum for PC gaming. Would hit it for sure if OP turned down settings though

  • 4k on even a 1080Ti is a stretch, will inconsistently hit 60FPS with the latest titles at max settings. Would suggest 144hz 2k instead.

What monitors were you looking at? Acer Predator Xb271hu is a nice one

    • I already have the monitor as well. its an old one but its 144hz 2k

  • Hi there, I have a similar setup (ryzen 1600x, 1080ti,16gb, ssd) and run two 4k monitors off it just fine.
Mostly run older games such as Seige, Dota, CS, mostly at >100fps, with a video running on the other screen.
Newer farcry 5 runs at around 60fps dipping down to ~50 in battles

    • Do you have farcry stretched both screens? Or just main? I dont think extra screen should tax it as long as you are not playing on both

      • Just one, as most games dont play nicely over multiple screens, and FPS's have the aiming spot right between the screens.
Playing 4k videos on the other screen did affect the rates but not overly on the older games. FC5 just played without videos.

        • Could it handle 4k with a bit of tweaking.. personally I love 4k resolution but don't mind turning down some settings.

But man 4k strategy gaming is my dream.. just think of all the screen real estate.

Can't wait to try starcraft and age of Empires and ashes of the singularity in 4k with maybe some minor tweaking to keep it above 50 fps.

45 is ok but getting closer to 30 you can start to see the differences.

  • Even my dear departed (sold) GTX780 ran 4K.

    • Lol on DOTA maybe. You would get roughly 10 or less FPS if you tried modern games

    • 780 gaming at 4k? Yeah nah. VRAM is a thing.

      • It was a Gainward GTX 780 Phantom 6GB and listed on eBay as running Assassins Creed Black Flag in 4K, which it did quite smoothly, buyer left positive review as well, so perhaps it ran 4K for him as well. Nice card, only sold it to run VR.

I would suggest your desktop start with walking around the block or a lap of the oval to build up endurance before moving up to 4k.

  • I have a 1080ti running 4 k games at 75hz in most titles, your AAA range and games that are a year or two old generally will be fine though the card will struggle when it comes to games that are not fully optimized. Since your card is a reference design heat will be a enemy and you will probably find it running slower than it should due to throttling( 4k will push it to its limits there is no getting around it). So as most have mentioned it should run fine but don't expect it to sit pegged to the the 60fps mark, drops will fall into the 50ish area but mostly you will find it a good experience.
