I'm upgrading my TV and will be spending approx 1k on a complimentary sound system (probably a soundbar for the space saving factor.) I'm curious about what percentage of the population has invested in speakers beyond what their TV provides - hence the poll.

that only leaves $200 for an amp though
5.1 speakers make a big difference to movies.
My LG TV sounds great without a soundbar. Has built-in Harmon and Kardon speaker and has amazing virtual surround sound that works well.
My other Sony TV has a built-in soundbar. Which sounds ok but the LG is far better.
