TV/Home Theatre Mounting and Installation

Hey! So I recently bought my apartment and the concept of being able to put holes in walls is pretty new to me as an ex-renter. I'm seriously considering having my TV mounted, and I figure while I'm at it, have my speaker cables run through the walls/roof, new power points installed for the TV mount, etc. etc.

Is it worthwhile getting a pro in to do everything? Obviously I'd need a sparky for the power point/s but I think I could technically do everything else myself… I just think getting in a pro means it'll be done properly and efficiently. What would I be looking at paying for the TV to be mounted, cables hidden in the wall and speaker cables run through the roof for the surround sound speakers? Any recommendations for someone to do it around Melbourne? Or is it a waste of money and I should just get used to the ugly mess I have now?

Thanks OZB!

  • JB Hi-Fi can quote full delivery and install.
    Sorry simple wall mount.

  • Sparkies are experts at getting wires from A to B. Could be worthwhile getting them to run your cables when they are installing gpo's etc and you terminate them, if you prefer to do that yourself. They will be able to mount the T.V too. Get a quote or two.

  • Wall anchor for mounting, cable duct and run cable inside the wall.

  • +1

You may not need to move the power points, and hence avoid the need for a sparky.

I'm keen to do this myself at some point!

    • err, which is pretty much the same as the poster above me suggests, minus pictures :)
