Bought one of these earlier for this price. Amazing seat for the money - cheapest price previously was $299.

Keep in mind this is the 'old' model, the 'new' model is black and $369, but the only difference I can see is it has fixed armrests. Also keep in mind this model is not the Maxi Guard Pro, which has other features (cupholders, SICT head and torso protection) but is also $425.

  • Great timing - needed a second seat for our other car. We have the Pro model in the main car and love it.

  • Soon to be newbie Dad here. Looking for one that supports 0-6 months. Any suggestions?

We got a 0-6m capsule. Meant that if our bub fell asleep in the car we didn't need to wake her to get her in / out (just lifted out the capsule). Now we have a 6m-8year car seat which should last us the whole time.

      • Although these seats say they are from 6 months, they have an entry height marker that only off the charts babies would reach and are forward facing only. They're best suited when the kid is close to 3. Also if you're in SA, illegal to forward face so soon. Look at 0-4 seats.

i didn't do this but have noticed advice along the lines of renting/hiring equipment for new born. looking back, this would've been a good option. not sure how much it would cost to hire but it should work out to be cheaper than buying things you don't get to use for more than 6 months.

    • Newby Dad here (12 weeks! 😁)
We've hired ours from the council (we're located in the Melbourne city council). I believe most councils offer this. From memory, it's about $90 including a $40 deposit, so essentially $50 for 6 months hire.

Nothing 'fancy' about it, but it's safe, does a good job and has a removable capsule. Won't win any fashion awards but who needs to impress when a baby will spew milk all over it anyway! Also saves spending a few hundred on something that doesn't get used for very long and could be outdated when you have the next kid.

The car seats are professionally cleaned too, prior to each hire. We got lucky and received a brand new one which was a bonus.

    • Please look for something with extended rear facing. Have a look at the childcarseats safety website. I think the best one at the moment is the Britax Graphene. It is the new version of the slimm line ahr, which was the only model with extended rear facing to get 4 stars in both front and rear facing positions

  • I can't see any reference to isofix. Does anyone who has one know?

    • No isofix.

    • ISOFIX is only available for 0-4 seats/capsules due to a weight limit

    • Don't hold Isofix too highly. IMO this is added as standard to a lot of cars today as a safety feature 'upsell', but the capsules with it will not always be suitable for the seat shape or clip location, and will be looser than the seatbelt + buckle option.
E.g. the 'Maxi Cosi Mico ap' with Isofix is very loose in a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander.
      Ask around.

  • Note that these are now sold out online, you may find stock in store however, and you may be lucky to get Baby Bunting to price match - however they dont have much stock either: https://www.babybunting.com.au/britax-safe-n-sound-maxi-guar…

    • wife went to store, they advised it all went to online and was sold out.
