What is your experience with them??

I'd expect "smokey" is caused more by what's on the cooktop rather than the cooktop itself.

    • This.

    • In hindsight I think OP is thinking more about cooking outdoors.

    • Perhaps they could take the portable cooktop outside and cook the smokey food there.

Edit: I didn't hit refresh before I posted so I didn't see your second post.

  • They are nice and efficient and safer to use though. I saw a good quality kmart house brand one the other day, I'm going to pick one up myself.

  • We've got a Phillips one from TGG, mainly used for cooking at the dining table. It doesn't "simmer" well though, just full blast and off.

  • We bought 2 from kogan $49 each about 3 years ago. They're great. Have one on the bench, if we need another pull it out. Very controllable.

  • No complaints with our Tefal one.

  • We have an Ikea one. However you still need to ventilate the steam/smoke coming from the cooking.
