  If one was to use the 4th on the 5th month should it not be 4 X 5 = 20% off?

    Not quite. 4th day, 5th month, is indeed 4x5, so 20 — you're right there.

    However we must then apply R2-D2, where R=1 and D=3, which totals -4.

    Take then C-3PO, where C equals 0, P=10, O=0.2

    Lastly, we take BB-8 where B=16, totalling 0.

    May the 4th (20)
    Add R2-D2 (16)
    Add C-3PO (10, rounded)
    Add BB-8 (still 10)

    So yeah, we think it's pretty obvious.
