So the rest of the honey is cooked ?

    • +3

Much store-bought honey is pasteurized by heating to kill any possible residual yeast. Helps keep the product liquid as well. Apparently, may also destroy some of the natural goodness - although I have not researched this myself.

      So, yes.

      • I did not know that… thanks…

are there any risks with eating raw honey, like with unpasteurised milk?

        • yeah allergens that don't have the proteins degraded in pasteurisation.

500g = $7.95, if you look around for a local raw honey supplier, you won't need shipping either.

With 30% off your honey will be $8.75.

This is not a bargain post.

    Ozbargain is only for bargains.

      https://thesourcebulkfoods.com.au/shop/cooking/byron-bay-raw…

contains allergens, traces of allergens or bi-products of the following: peanuts, nuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, seeds, soybeans and soy products, egg, pollen and bee products, preservatives, gluten and cereals containing gluten, wheat, rye, barley oats, spelt, dairy, fish, crustacea, and other products that may behave as allergens to certain people.

      no thanks…

      • Where did you find the allergens part? I couldn't find it..

        • Bottom of the page: "Allergen Alert"

      • +1

Most products have a traces warning.

The only way around this is to package your product in a place that doesn't deal with any other type of product.

        • No it's about places that only use equipment for different requirements like one area that doesn't deal with any allegen foods that could leave traces for the next batxh

      • Jv everything has allergen warnings. No thanks stick to water.

        • Do peanuts have warnings?

        • @jv:

          Yes, they do.

  • At the least this is an Australian company that should be supported more, rather than the big supermarket who already make millions.

Few $$ differnce so what it's not like 50% more.

    Locally made is better

    • Except if you look anywhere around where you live, there are plenty of locally made raw honey places that are cheaper.

      So not a bargain…
