Recommend Me - Ergonomic Desk

Hi all,

I am looking for a comfortable (ergonomic) desk for my computer desk at home.
The area is not big so looking for a compact one.

Currently, I am using one from OfficeWorks years ago (quite cheap from memory), but I think the height is too high (75 cm) and causing lots of stress to my shoulder/neck.
I set my ergonomics chair to its highest setting but I think the desk too high as my elbow is not in right angle.
I compare it with the desk in my office which I find more comfortable and it is lower than I have at home.

Any recommendations?

Cheers

    • This table is very fragile, with only a Max. load of 50 kg, so had to return it.

      • Hmm, what do you put on your desk? I have currently about 10 kg of weight on my desk and I do have 34" monitor.

Height-adjustable desks will be always a bit wobbly due to moving parts but not too much. A friend has bought height-adjustable desk and it wobbled a lot. He was about to return it but it turned out he just didn't tighten the screws well during the assembly.

    • Ah yes I saw this one when I was browsing IKEA.

I was tossing between this one and Bekant.
I think currently I am leaning towards the Bekant because it is deeper and has cable management at the bottom and also minimum height is lower (65cm) than SKARSTA at 70cm.
At work, my desk is about 68 cm I think and fit me quite well.

I am thinking to add Alex Add-on for some storage so deeper desk in Bekant will be more handy/space.

      Good suggestion though! Ta

      • +1

I too, would actually prefer the BEKANT. I must've missed it during my initial search

You'll want your table to be as deep as possible. I work a desk job (on Ozbargain, obviously) and I actually use a cheap IKEA dining table as my workdesk. It's the perfect height for me as I can scootch right up to the desk and rest my right elbow on the desk, while using the mouse.

I think it's called the MELLTORP but my table was bought a long time ago, so the dimensions may be different. According to Pintrest, it's a good office desk substitute :)

If the desk doesn't have enough depth, you won't be able to rest your arms on the desk and this can cause RSI.

    • Looks interesting, but it's in QLD. I want to see it in person I guess before purchase.
      Thanks for the suggestion though

      • The specific model of desk is from Elevar. If you're lucky there might be an office furniture store available locally that stock or orders it.
