What Info to Provide When Requesting Qantas Lounge Pass

Hi

I am about to claim 2x complimentary Qantas lounge pass from my ANZ black card and planning to sell them or give to family members. I would also close the account in July 2018 where the annual fee is about to kick in.

Do I need to provide my QFF number?
Would it be associated/bind to the pass?
Would they check if my ANZ card account is closed if someone wants to use it after July?
Should I tell the flight is still end of this year to make the expiry longer (or there is a one or two year expiry by default)?

Apologies for lots of questions, dont want to mess with my QFF account for breaching their T & C.

  • What do their t&c say?

    • Thought selling it wouldnt be allowed in qantas t&c but hey they allow transferring

Please be advised this is Ozbargain, not the ANZ help desk.

What did they say when you asked them?

    • I don't think he wants to ask cos it's probs against the T+C

      • Correct hence seeking opinions first before calling

Usually Qantas passes are just printed tickets that have no ties to you at all. They basically just say 'this pass is valid for 1 entry before [month][year]'.

This is the case with St George Amplify credit card and probably many more. Hopefully an ANZ cardholder can confirm this for you.

    or call ANZ about this?

  • Depends on the passes, one of my cards provides physical Qantas lounge passes and they are generic like cash so anyone could use them. (Provided you're flying with Qantas)

My other card is now providing the Qantas electronic lounge passes, you need to bind them to your flight prior to departure. You can also gift these passes to another FF member so it's really no big difference.

    • Cheers good to know

  • I just bought two of these online off a seller on GumTree 4 days ago, and a t was the electronic version where once they are transferred to my name I can do what I like with them. Expiry remains the same, and I immediately transferred one on to my partner in his name and linked them to our upcoming flight. By the way we're travelling JetStar not Qantas so trust me you have a lot of flexibility in what you are doing with these…

    • Cheers enjoy your trip

  • FYI Qantas sell them for $69 each online so those "prices" you see hopeful sellers selling for, well they are just dreaming, some of them. Make sure you realise what you will be getting for them and your time/effort (realistically, $50 each so $100 for both).

    • Hopefully its just matter of a simple phone call..
I saw some people in this community sell 2x for around $80 so still something for me than nothing. Thanks fyi didnt know the rrp

    • paid $59 for mine recently

  • You provide your QFF number and then the passes are electronically added to that account.

You can then login to the Qantas website to manage your passes: you can link it to an upcoming flight or transfer it to anyone else who has a QFF account.

I think the expiry is automatically set as one year from when it is issued, but I suppose there is no harm in asking for longer.

    Check the T&Cs.

    • Cheers. I thought they will check if my anz card still valid or not (just like Citibank and Priority Pass). But this pass apparently is different

I called to arrange for my passes with my ANZ Black a month ago. They sent

They sent me an email within a week, excerpt below

As a valued ANZ Frequent Flyer Black cardholder, your invitations are now available for you to manage via the digital Complimentary Invitations Portal at qantas.com/freeloungeinvite, where you can link your invitations to a flight or transfer to a family member, colleague or friend.

Once logged in you are able to 'Transfer a complimentary invitation to another Qantas Frequent Flyer member' by providing Membership # and Last Name.

    • Thanks

^ thats your final answer mate, a fellow ANZ black cardholder. If you still want to speak to ANZ, obviously dont say you're selling, just say you want to transfer to a friend (not family) and ask how you can do this.

  • Thanks all for you comments/info..

I havent called anz as yet, just preparing some answers as I'm planning to sell it before I close my anz account. Thought selling it wouldnt be allowed in qantas t&c

  • I am planning to get mine for June trip using ANZ Black since we are flying Jetstar. Anyone here used the passes in Tokyo Qantas lounge and was it better than Sydney lounge?

  • I just ordered by lounge passes today. Does anyone know how long they take to show up in your account, and where do I go in my account to find them?
