Here's the nutritional info for the protein above seeing Chemist Warehouse doesn't provide this (is this legal?).

This may be a better deal if you're buying more:

    Black Belt Protein WPC - 6KG - $99.

  • Sorry, stupid question, but these protein things, are they to help you lose weight or bulk up? I've not been able to work it out.

    • +2

Neither in your instance - protein is 'food' for your muscles to 'grow' after you've broken down muscle tissue while working out.

If you can't work out, you have to find out how much your body burns a day just being alive (TDEE) and then either consume that amount of calories (if you're not doing any other activities) to maintain your body weight, or decrease/increase the calories to lose/gain weight.

    • Both, Either depending on your goals.

Whey Protein tends to be lower calories and carbs. So if your trying to put on muscle without the extra fat this is good.

Similarly, people supplement lower calorie protein shakes when exercising for recovery.
Its not a meal replacement though, though it does help with hunger.

    • +2

Neither, at least not directly. It simply supplements your protein intake. It also makes things easier those who count their macronutrients. If you want to lose weight then reduce your overall caloric intake, if you want to bulk up go hit the gym.

    • +1

Protein is the nutrient that your body uses best to grow and repair muscles, but like any food if you eat too much then you will gain mass, if you eat too little you will lose mass. The composition of what you gain or lose is based on your nutrient intake and the exercise you do, ie. if you chug two shakes a day but don't lift any weights then your body won't have any need to grow or repair muscles so the nutrients will be stored as fat. If you eat ONLY two shakes a day but work out for hours then you won't be putting enough nutrients into your body and you will burn fat and muscle to meet your body's daily needs.

      • Well said!

I have just started working out 4+ times a week and have a shake a few times a week, as a 'snack' in between normal meals.

  • Anyone tried it? Is it tasty?

    • ive had it, its pretty average but its not Terrible.

    • I've been using it over 1.5 years. really good taste(chocolate)

  • Chemist Warehouse has the Thermogenic Protein from Vital Strength at $80 for 3 kg. Works out to be $26.66 per kg. That's good for a brick and mortars store.

    • Thermogenic Protein or fat burners are not good for long term use. do some research before purchasing them :)

      • I doubt it would have any real thermogenics in there.
