Cheap/Good Electrical Scooter for Adults

Hi there, looking to buy an electrical scooter for my commute to work (6 km a day). How much money do I need to spend to get a decent one or what can you recommend? Thanks in Advanced.

no such thing as a 'good' scooter

why not a pushie for only 6km?

    .

    • Price difference isnt that Big from what i have seen

  • If you mean and electric assisted bike, there are options.
An electric 'scooter' is not legal to ride on the road or footpath.

Was looking at something like this. I thought those are called electric scooters.

      • Note the fine print in that listing:
"Electric Scooters are not designed for use in public spaces."

In NSW you could be fined for driving an unregistered vehicle, big $$$.

        • Aa damn didn't actually think so far.. what about a regular one ? Any recommendations ?

      • Wow. Pretty amazing price with the coupon. Shame I'm way over the weight limit haha

  • Check the legalities of them first before committing to a purchase.

    • Hmm..I See a lot of ppl in these kind of times didn't think they can not be legal

        I see them too.
I saw one guy riding them during my commute for a few weeks then not any more. Then somebody else for a while.
I think they ride until they get warned or fined.

      • The laws vary state by state.

Like some laws, they're there, but whether or not they're enforced is a different story.
Whether you want to take the risk of a fine or not is up to you, but it's good to know what the actual law is in case you feel the need to do tricks on a scooter next to a cop on the footpath! haha

  • Good question - anyone locate anything? I only need one for a short distance (couple hundred metres). A pushy is too unwieldy for my situation (live in a unit, can't lock bike anywhere easily accessible)

A couple of hundred metres? Have you tried walking? It takes up zero space in your apartment, doesn’t require a permit or license to do, is legal, doesn’t make too much noise and keeps you fit.

Just saying… it might be an alternative if a bike is too big and a scooter is too expensive…

      • Hey, what can I say, riding a scooter is a laugh and that's the only time I can squeeze in to ride a scooter. So I'm going for it.

  • Get one of these and be awesome.

    • Bit over budget

      • Over budget? Did you not see how ugly it was? Good lord!

Learn to ride a real scooter. You can get a second hand 50cc for like $500. If in Qld I believe you can ride one on a car license, other states you need to take a learners motorcycle course and pass an easy test at the end.

    • Scooter is too unpractical since I don't have a Garage.

Is there no street parking? And what were you planning to do with the electric scooter? Eat it?

6km trip makes a good walk or just ride a bike

    • Add 20 more km to that because I have to walk a lot at work it's getting a bit too much for 5 days a week.

  • Sure, buy one - but know that they are not legal in public spaces. There is a very slim chance of you being fined, but there is a chance.

    • The question is though..which one ?

  • I've seen a few these around..https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/black-electric-scooter-stealth-carbon/

I would purchase one if the laws were relaxed.
