[Unobtainable Deal] TPG 4G Unlimited Mobile Data: Free 6mth Trial (Then Optional $9.99/mth) (Capped Daily at 1Mbps after 1GB)

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Deal cancelled as TPG did not roll out their own 4G network

Customers who would like to participate in the trial and take advantage of the fantastic value available on the new TPG plan should register their details at www.tpg.com.au/register-mobile.

TPG will be sending out invitations to persons who express interest, with priority being given to existing TPG, iiNet and Internode broadband customers.

Fresh off the press

  • TPG launching 4G mobile service in Q3 - Q4
  • Inner city coverage only, please check against the linked table
  • Free 6 months trial, then $9.99 per month
  • 1st GB each day uncapped, then shaped to 1Mbps
  • 4G Data only, no voice

Set start date to 1 July Sep 30 Nov 30 (split between Q3/Q4). I may fall foul of the guidelines as there is no definitive start date, however I believe ozbargainers should be informed of this launch before committing to any fixed term contracts now.

This is how you hide the Apple logo.

    Registered anyway
    Because why not

Because it's totally useless for you.

  • Of little value if it doesn't include standard calls, sms and international calls. Not how many people would prefer all day internet (which they often don't use) against calls and sms which is a necessity.

    • +2

      Are you serious?

      • I got serious when I saw no mention of standard calls' inclusion.

        • +3

Yes, because it's a data plan - of much value to lots of people.

  • Coverage kilometers away. But have registered. Cheap as chips.

  • This is awesome.
I can now finally be able to web chat with Scab when I'm out and about.

  • Would this work in Home Alarm systems using GPRS?

    • I think you'd need to ask TPG that.

    • if by GPRS you mean the old 2G GSM data systems, no.
if by GPRS you mean just any mobile signal and your panel has a supports a 4G modem, most likely it's, yes. (subject to the frequencies on that modem).
in any case it's free, so throw it in the panel and see what you get.

  • If a lot of ppl use it simultaneously, the bandwidth will become a problem.
It ends up with very low internet speed for each user in the network, for my understanding.

  • Order 10 and then Load Balance them?

    LOL

  • Signed up.
    Great find

  • does this mean if you're in the area you can use unlimited or you have to live in the suburb?

    • Pretty sure if you're just in the area.

  • Great. Will give it a go. Wonder how many people will be offered the trial. There are over 11K hits.

  • Still 43 days before this deal becomes active. Gonna need some reminder system to notify myself when the date approaches.

    • If only OzBargain had its own deal reminder feature

    TPG launching 4G mobile service in Q3 - Q4

Expect that will be cancelled after last week's announced merger of TPG & Vodafone, primarily so TPG gets Vodafone's existing mobile network! (Will need to be approved.)
    History of TPG acquisitions

Doubt TPG will proceed with its plans to develop its own network when it just acquired a fully developed one.

So this is likely a stillborn deal - if merger goes ahead😢

    • I was wondering the same too. I guess it depends on how much physical infrastructure TPG has already invested in, and whether or not they wish to test it out.

  • Is this back on the table again?

        • 1 day vs over 2 years lol

  • About to revive a dead post to announce that TPG released Felix, not as good as "top 4G speeds for 1GB a day" but it's better than nothing
