Sneakers in Australia Are a Ripoff

Anybody feel that sneakers here are a total ripoff? Hype etc are charging double of what the UK retailers charge.

I got a pair of NMDs for $94 shipped from UK which could easily be $200 here.

I suspect it might be END clothing. Someone posted a deal 2 days ago for some NMDs at that price point.

    • Which cheap UK sites to buy from??

    not just sneakers ???

we're paying more for almost everything

Thanks to Gerry Harvey, we'll need to pay taxes for buying overseas, soon

  • They are a rip off, I don't understand how anyone can afford them. You can still get decent prices of sneakers here when a deal pops up but you are limited in choice and sizes as it's usually a shoe that isn't selling or a size that isn't selling.

    • Because their target market isn't local people. It's the asians that line up all night long to buy them and ship back to their countries to resell for a profit.

Why would Hype sell you shoes for $100 when there's people itching to buy them for $200 guaranteed. It's ruined the market.

      • Negged but it's true through. Remember when Yeezy's were initially released and people camped out and resold for like 5x

      • Hype's terrible. Only when they have online sales are the prices reasonable and often for the models that nobody wants.

That's why I go to china and buy replicas for 30 dollars each. No shame, sorry.

30? No no how about $6. Haha have you seen collinabroadcast?

      • Not really, I don't watch his videos because I already been to the places he goes. Also, the 6 dollar shoes are bad quality.

    What's new?

Replace the word "Sneakers" with "Everything" and it's still true.

  • Depends on where you come from.
Just had a colleague over from Asia the other week, he was blown away by how cheap they are here and the huge selection that they don't have.

    It's all relative.

Welcome to Australia, everything is 50% more expensive than everywhere else.

We have cheap beef and produce. You wouldnt believe how much some asian countries are paying for imported Aussie meat and veg…

    • If you think we have cheap beef in this country, then go to Argentina!!

    • 350-400g of aussie beef steak runs about 700Yen (~$8AUD) at my local, close to $20 a kilo. Canada and America also import beef here, and its more common for the area where i live.
Pales in comparison to Goto-Gyuu, the local beef from island, which is around 10000Yen ($120/kg), and i'll buy 100-150g for about 600yen when its on special. Amazing quality beef, fatty, juicy and full of flavour.

Sometimes onions and carrots are $1AUD each

  • I got a pair of adidas stan smiths for $30 when HYPEDC was doing 50% off for everything for 3 days or something.

  • I got a pair of Off White Jordan 1's for $330 which I think is fair.
My Adidas NMD's, Ultra Boosts and Yeezys I've paid $300-$600 for.
I think the prices are fair though
