Hi

Just wondering if anyone here is from south australia as we are looking at getting solar put on.

If you are located in South Australia what company did you go with and are you happy with them?

Not in SA, but the general rule is non-local installers will source the cheapest subbies to slap on some panels and be impossible to deal with if stuff goes wrong.
At least if a local guy does a poor job you can go knock on his door.

  • We used ACE Solar and Electrical.
One of the highly regarded SA Installers on Whirlpool.

Parts and Quality of Installation excellent.
But I wish I'd done a bit more research on panel placement and stuck to my guns versus their placement suggestion.

OP, I recommend that you either get a whole house power meter installed or closely monitor your power usage for a minimum of a week.
`Then you can see when you use power and terefore where to fit panels.
In our case, we use power at Breakfast and morning (Washing machine) and Evening/night for cooking.

We should have got East panels to cover our morning usage.
Instead we got North panels and West panels.
North panels might generate more power overall, but they don't start producing a decent amount until around 10am, after our morning usage peak.

With Net metering, you really want to maximise your power production at time of use, not just maximise outright production.
We can time-shift some of our usage, but it means fewer loads of washing per day if we wait.
