Bosch Solution 3000 Alarm System Installation/Troubleshooting HELP

Hi Everyone

My alarm keeps going off as soon as it’s connected to mains power.

BACKGROUND:
I just purchased a Bosch Solution 3000 Alarm System as my house was pre-wired. So far I’ve installed everything including 4 PIR sensors, Icon keypad, External siren and strobe. I’ve wired everything according to the limited instructions in the manual.

For the installers out there this is what I’ve done:
- For the external siren and strobe: I’ve wired 2 wires for the strobe, + to the com and - to output 3; wired 2 wires for the siren, + to com and - to output 1; plus two wire tamper to the tamper on the board.
- for the PIRs there’s four wires, black and red to aux +/- on the board; and two wires which run like this: tamper -> eol resistor -> nc terminal on the PIR. This goes to zone 1/2/3/4 according to the different PIRs
- keypad red yellow green black to positive, A, B, comms on the board.

Here’s the problem, as soon as I turn the power on or connect the battery, the Siren and strobe goes off and the keypad does a long continuous beep. No matter what I press it doesn’t stop.

Please help!

  • Is there a short anywhere?

    • This would more then likely blow a fuse.

      • I may have to use a multimeter and test every wire tomorrow

  • what value resistor are you using. Since it's only 4 zones, are resistors even required?(I'm not sure the answer to this)

Maybe troubleshoot it by disconnecting the PIR's and seeing if you get a different result. Also try removing the tamper wires for now.

Judging by the sounds of things, I think you know what you're doing. Also, I generally disconnect the siren when working on my own install as I don't have pi$$ the neighborhood off.

I think alarms are a easy, but getting help is difficult as the community and installers out there tend to reply with "call an installer". AC, wires, resistors, f**k all polarity to worry about, it's not that difficult if someone would help us with the foundation.

    • You always should have EOL resistors so that the system can tell the difference between open and a cable cut.

    • Yes I am using resistors to all PIRs. 3k3 wired in series in the sensors. Yes I also have disconnected the siren once I realised the alarm was going off.

  • OP I would try a reset of the board, and remove number of things connected to bare minimum and see if fault persists. Then slowly re-add devices.

    • Sounds like a good idea to find out what’s going on. I’ll take it all off and see.

  • you need to put it in install mode.
my installer had the exact same thing happen.
instructions should be in the installer’s manual.
once all parameters are set and saved it’ll function normally.

  • Thanks for all your suggestions everyone. Turns out it was an easy fix, but it took a long time to realise.

They sent me the wrong keypad - instead of the icon keypad for solution 3000 they sent me the 880 one.

Installed it and worked straight away. Changed all the codes fine. Just hit one last problem… One remote won’t register with the panel it operates my garage fine, just can’t get it to sync with the alarm panel so I can turn the alarm on and off with it. Sigh.

  • Hi there,

We purchased a wireless setup using the 3000 control panel.

You wouldn't happen to have a diagram or picture of the wiring would you?
We are trying to make sure we wire it properly. Mainly the AC power wires.
We had a faulty Control board that has now been replaced and don't want it blowing on us.

    Cheers
