Pebble watch - what is modern equivalent?

I have a Pebble watch and have been happy with it.
I want to replace it with a new watch.

I particularly like the ability to respond to SMSs with a canned message directly from the watch, eg I can choose to reply OK!

Any suggestions on what would be a good replacement watch for a happy Pebble user?

    Ticwatch or Fitbit Versa.

Fitbit Versa is the new Pebble.

Oh. I thought you meant the 80s Tissot Rock Watch.

I upgraded from my Pebble to the Fitbit Ionic and never looked back. Those with smaller wrists would be better suited for the Fitbit Versa which is pretty much the same minus GPS and NFC but has a sleeker look.

Should be worth pointing out that canned messages only work for Android at this stage

The Versas in Australia have NFC, only difference is the GPS on the Ionic.

      • That's awesome. Cheers for the clarification :)

I think most Android watches do that (I'm assuming if Bluetooth to a phone?) and more which opens things up? Shame there was the $100 New Balance watch a few days ago which would've been a great price.

I kind of feel like if thats all, then almost most smart watch would do, which kind of means maybe looking at a few more features? Like GPS, or tracking or NFC?

I hear the Tic watches are supposed to be good value for money?, a few huawei have kool hardware, obviously samsung for the spinny wheel watch but I don't know if they have canned responses?

I hear a few more watches may be coming out this year as well which I'm looking out for. Good luck!

Samsung has customisable canned responses, yes.

  • Don't go Fitbit unless you have an Apple iPhone; their support for android is woeful.

The company as a whole may not be around much longer, take a look at their share price.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions. Useful.
I looked at Ticwatch as a few suggested. BTW they had a Mothers day 20% off which has now expired, so I missed that one!

Fitbit Iconic and Fitbit Versa are available at similar prices. Based on the comment above: "Fitbit Versa is the new Pebble" I guess I should choose the Versa. Any comments on Versa vs Iconic?

If GPS is important to you get the Ionic it has built in GPS whereas the Versa uses the phone for GPS signal. The battery life on the Ionic is also a little better. I bought a Versa as I hate how the Ionic looks and don't need GPS.

The Ionic is 20% off on Bing Lee Ebay at the moment https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-FITBIT-FB503GYBK-Ionic-Watch…

  • Found the Versa is also available at 20% off here:

I agree with you that it looks better than the Ionic. That is what I'm going to get.

I'd recommend getting a screen protector. The screen is supposedly gorilla glass but it scratches way too easily. I got a fine scratch on mine the first day I wore it.

      • Ok thanks for the suggestion.
