Firmware Update for the Sony WH-1000XM2 and WI-1000X

Just a heads up, Sony has just released new firmware for the above headsets but have subsequently pulled it from release because it was bricking some headsets.

However, when they do re-release the new firmware, it will be a great update for an already great set of headphones.

I just cut my toothbrush up into little pieces looking for the hardware to support firmware..

        Nothing.. Absolutely nothing..

I think I've been ripped off!

I suggest you lodge a dispute with Paypal or do a charge back on the toothbrush seller. You received a dud!

@sm007h: Already underway, great minds and all that…

        • @iDroid:
Did you send the toothbrush directly to PayPal's office, using Fastway couriers?

        • @Kangal: Fastway - all the way!

So they issue a firmware update without testing it. Great if yourve just had your headphones blocked. Thats why its sometimes better to wait. If it aint broken dont fix it. The only thing I would like is better adjustment increments to swiping vol. Too small at moment. Maybe address some ppls complaint about not having dual connected devices. Improve calls, but suspect as no mic near mouth that cant be fixed. Allowing equilzer setting and sound orientation setting at same time.

    • There might be optimisations that improve battery life, or changes to the sound balance or tweaks to the touch control to be more user friendly. There are so many positive things they can do with a firmware update, you shouldn't be against them in principle.

That being said, it shouldn't be that hard to test against bricking. Poor show from Sony on this one

    • That's not how testing goes.

Otherwise there would be no mistakes in products, cough Note 7.

  • New 2.01 update. Reluctant to update. Anyone done it with Android? It takes 30min. Google assist upgrade and other unlisted enhancements/upgrades. Also a new 3.2.0 headphone App. Ok going to try, but hope I don't regret doing it.

    • Updated. Simply in the end.

  • Updated and sadly, it does not fix the ability to connect and switch easily between two bluetooth devices. The headphones biggest downside.
