  • I thought that was the 2.2 update? But I haven't done it yet so not sure.

    • lol, I also thought the same.

  • It says under Installation Instructions:

    ROM Version: 3.15.178.3

Improved function: Android platform 2.2 update

    • Have you done the install on your HTC?

  • Bargrin, I think, the second link is for 2.2 update and also for the vodafone customers.
I want to hear from someone who has already updated the phone and if, it is any good.

I installed mine yesterday, works great and no branding as far as I can find.

  • I was not able to my Legend from the HTC site:
    http://www.htc.com/au/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=1074&news_i…

It keeps on saying check the USB connection. where as I am connected and I did the sync to back up my contacts and calendar. HTC Sync also says : HTC connected.

God knows, what the problem is.

  • I installed the ROM as per the HTC website and am currently running 2.2 Froyo fine on the Legend. No branding whatsoever also.

Can't say the same for my reception…

    • Lucky man..

      • I wouldn't go that far! Mine is also recognized via HTC Sync but absolutely refuses to sync; even before the ROM upgrade.

  • hooray.. something to play with. the legend is belong to my gf but ofcourse im the one who will re flashing it haha.
by the way, any review on the performances, speed, battery, crashes, etc etc ?

  • +1

Finally installed the update in my phone. WiFi connection is definately improved, whereas the network connection weakness is still there. Speed is pretty smooth.
Had to install the latest HTC sync and tried.

    So far so good.

  • cool will update, I have found battery life pretty poor and have to turn of Wifi. Also wifi can be pretty slow so hopfully this improves it.

    tks

    • Agreed. Battery life of HTC are not that good. May be, its price for too much comfort.
Though many know, but for those who dont, Make sure you do few things to improve :

      1. Disable GPS (under Settings-> Location -> GPS.) when not in use.
      2. Same for Wifi & bluetooth (hands free), when u are out and not using internet, disable Wifi.( Settings -> Wireless & networks-> Wifi). (make shortcuts for Wifi or Bluetooth to make it quick)
      3. I am on 200 MB data plan, so I dont want mobile to keep updaing from internet. So you can disable mobile data from: Settings-> Wireless & networks-> Mobile Network disabled.
      4. In Account and sync : disable auto of appls, which u dont want to do auto sync and also set the frequency, of when to do that.

      Hope this helps :)

Can be easier to put the POWER MGMNT widget on one of the front pages. It allows u to toggle each easily. Just don't change brightness here or you'll lose the auto setting.
Data toggle widget also available under the list of SETTING widgets.

  • ok updated but dont know how to restore stuff, everything wiped off phone which is no biggie as I didn't put much on it cause I knew i was going to upgrade to 2.2

I did copy the MicroSd card stuff on to a thumb drive so can I just copy the same files/folders back across to the MicroSD ?

How do I get my apps back ? (again no biggie as they were all the free apps)

Can I get my SMS back ?

iPhone better cause you can just back up from itunes account and it simple, this thing I got no clue.

    • Looks like in 2.2 the "Privacy" setting has disappeared, which is pretty annoying cause HTC website keeps referring you to that settings for doing backups >:(

    • oh bad. Acatually for backup to SD card, you need to install free apps ( I think, they are two, one for virtually rooting the phone and then second for backup. Read many threads on whirlpool.net for this.)

I only had my contact imported from outlook (nokia-> outlook). when in people -> press MEnu-> export contacts to SD card.
and when you install the app, import them.
Thats what I did, as I did not have any SMS.

Secondlt for the APps, for now, you have to install them again.

      • Yeah I had appmonster so backed up all apps to SDcard and figured out to load them back, got my contacts but all SMS gone.

But still in 2.2 it dosent recognize ad-hoc wifi so cant tether via nokia jokiuspot connection.

  • anybody know of any good site that will explain what the android can and cannot do ?

Feel like I am underusing a gadget that should be more awesome.

  • Has anyone installed swype? I have but need to keep resetting it everytime I restart the phone. Annoying……

  • I keep getting error 170 and 171 :(. Anyone else?

  • I'm stuck at "Veryfying information on your Android phone. Please wait…" ..

    :(

Got latest HTC sync and followed all the procedures ..

    any advice?

  • Can anyone share the ling for skype. I could not find it in market place.

    • are you sure? are you looking for skype or swype ? skype is for video chat, swype is keyboard.
swype is not in the market, try google it you have to register for beta they will give the link to you to download.

      • lol. sorry, I was asking for swype , but my fingers typed skype.
        Thanks anyways.
