1-Day.com.au "Air Multiplier" Fan Fiasco Resolution

Hi guys, just a quick update to the aforementioned deal which seems to have been removed now.

I've just confirmed with 1-day.com.au online chat that my email cancelling my order had been received & that there will be no issue, refunds will be processed tonight & as usual with this kind of thing it might take a couple of days to hit our respective accounts. The online staff member was pleasant & helpful, so it looks like they are going to do the right thing by everyone who felt they have been duped. Thumbs up to 1-day on that!

As a side note, on checking their page today it appears the description has now been changed from "Air Multiplier" to "Air Blower"! ;)

[edit] True to their word the refund for the fans+shipping component of the order has been credited to my account. I had also ordered the Sony voice recorder, which would account for my dispatch notice, and remains on the account, however, it appears that they have shipped it for nix…no complaints there! :)

  • No worries, This pretty much confirms their too good to be true deals on Lacoste and Polo shirts, but also a big shot in the foot for them if this spreads around. I certainly won't deal with counterfeiters.

  • Wait a minute… is this an "Air Multiplier" or an industrial "Air Blower"?

    • Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure DYSON owns The design and name "Air Multiplier". Many are saying, 1-day won't be supplying the authentic product but some ripoff copy

Not sure if its actually a deliberate counterfeit attempt.

[my guess] They were looking on the distributor/wholesaler website, saw it was written up as a fan, went "hell yeh one of those dyson style fans", googled the name, and added air multiplier in without realising it was trademarked. (pretty easy mistake imo). I'm not saying thats correct, but thats what i think probably happened

    • I tend to agree. I've had good experiences with them in the past, I can't see them deliberately misrepresenting the product to overtly fool customers. The fact that they appear happy to cancel orders from those like myself who rashly thought that they were getting the real thing based on the wording of the ad is IMHO a very positive sign! :)

  • I can see on the a few china wholesaler sites that the same fan is selling with a representation of being a Dyson counterfeit. My question is whether the item displayed on 1-day.com.au is an actual photo of the product I purchased or just a mere "representation"? The 1-day online chat is now offline for some reason…

    • They must be busy emailing all those who ordered and paid

Well, looks like they cancelled all orders, saying they had "supplier related issues". Dyson probably finally got on to them.

  • Just got a cancellation email thru. Supplier issue. Oh well. Lets see how they go with refunds.

Pity… it wasn't so much a "supplier" issue but a legal one if I had to guess. Their lawyers would have said otherwise… got to love IP/trademark/Brand protection.

Now I'll await the refund. At least their customer support was excellent at addressing my questions as StewBalls stated.

  • Hmm, LOL…I just received a dispatch notice for the confirmed cancelled order…gotta wonder if these notices relate to actual dispatch or whether they're automated for a fixed time after placement of any order, irrespective of status??? :p

My online banking is offline, so I can't check on the refund ATM…very interesting indeed! ;)

    • True to their word the refund for the fans+shipping component of the order has been credited to my account. I had also ordered the $24.99 Sony voice recorder, which would account for my dispatch notice, and remains on my CC account; however, it appears that they have shipped it for nix…no complaints there! :)

Well - looks like the discussion can start again now with this supplier :)
