Nokia 2680 & 3500 from Cazy John's unlock problem

Bought these 2 Nokia phones & Samsung M610 from the deal last year (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/34991) the sale person told it can be unlock just by enter EMEI on their website (https://www.crazyjohns.com.au/unlock-your-phone/) now got my hand on the phones but the EMEI on both Nokia come up error on the website and Samsung M610 EMEI unlocked fine. Rang them they said unlocked fee is $70 or $79 (can't remember) but told them the story and they woudln't give a damn. Wondering any one have the same problem or is there anything that I can do?

  • did you try going in-stores, maybe they could help you as call service isn't usually that correct.
You should mention that the salesperson told you that it could be unlocked by entering the EMEI on their website.

    • Problem is I'm in SA, got my friend in VIC bought it for me.

      • Go to any CrazyJohns store. Doesn't have to be the store you bought it from.

        • Did that on the weekend and my local store can't help (have to pay for unlocked fee) told me to ring 132299 and spoken to 2 operators but no luck.
Seem like I got stuck with an locked phone. :(

        • Did you have any proof of purchase when you brought it in?

Alternative: Sell it off to Mazuma Mobile or recycle the phone at those MobileMuster boxes you see in front of phone shops.

        • The purchased was recorded in their system and the store reprint the receipt for me.
Now I just found out the Nokia 3500 also have the same problem.
According to garratt torlesse from the original deal posted said it was unlocked too but I can't prove to them over the phone that the store said the phone unlocked!

  • Do you have a better copy of the advertisement?
    What does your receipt say?

If the receipt says unlocked or you can find any advertisement that says they were unlocked, then write them a letter with a scan.

If you cant find either, you won't have any luck, they're under no legal obligation to unlock it, and the onus is on you to prove it was purchased unlocked.

    • The receipt only show store address (no phone number), phone model, serial # and price.
It was verbal from the store so can't prove to them now if they twist their tongue.
1 other user from other post also said Nokia 3500 unlocked too.
