Subaru Impreza (Hatch) 2010 OR Hyundai i30 2011/12?

Hi,

I'm looking for a used hatch 2010/11/12 under 80k odometer.
Found couple of good cars (around $9k-$10k)

  • Subaru Impreza 2010 80k odo
  • Hyundai i30 2011 70k odo

We don't drive much except weekend trips to beach or national parks.
We would use this car for at least next 3-4 years.

What do you guys think is better options?

    Hyundai will have a bigger boot, the Impreza a bit better on unsealed roads. Both as good as each other in all other aspects.

      Thanks! Bigger boot would definitely benefit us as we travel with our little one's stroller, bike etc.

        The wagon obviously has a lot more boot space than the hatch but I believe there is also more leg room in the back (which also means more room for front passenger if there's a car seat behind)

    Driven both, as I was looking at doing the same thing 2 months ago. Would recommend the impreza ( that's what I bought). The all wheel drive and engine response felt a a lot better.

      Thanks @shaz0316. It looks like now I need to prioritise between boot size vs performance (wife vs me) haha. I came across a couple of really good impreza. let see how it works out to be.

    I hear an older hatch mazda 3 (2009-2012~) could fit your needs too. Might be worth checking if theres any available

    Subaru is likely to be less economical because of the all wheel drive but the driving dynamics would be better because of it.
    If it has a CVT probably avoid it. Added maintenance for modest fuel efficiency gains.
