What Switch Game/s Should I Get from The Eshop?

As the title suggests, but with a limiting factor of $15 in the form of an eshop card.

I already have quite a few games and am looking to see what Ozbargain thinks in terms of value, fun, etc.

At the moment I'm looking at the Framed Collection but don't know if that will be the best bang for my buck or worth the $13.50 it currently sits at on sale.

  • Sell the eshop card and buy something you actually want?

    • Nothing I currently want is around $15 physical if that's what you mean.

And unfortunately I'm tight on money for the next couple months so the eshop voucher is my best option for exploring or trying new games which is what I'm intending to do with it.

  • Not to sure of what you like and prices but I really liked Celeste, prob one of my favs. Golf story was enjoyable RPG for me as well and I'm not a huge fan of golf games, though its quite a long game. One of my favs is actually Picross as well, don't know why but its nice for me to just zone out on. Not too sure what else is out at a lower price point though. (Also I hear Owlboy is good but haven't really tried it).

    • I love Golf Story as well. Been waiting for a price drop on Celeste as it's been $30 since release unfortunately :/

      • Celeste was great, well worth the price. The Steamworld games are also really good.

  • Axiom Verge, Owlboy, Golf Story have been some eShop ones I've enjoyed. Shantae: Half Genie Hero looks good but I'm waiting for a physical release. Not sure off the top of my head what they were worth, but there are sales for this kind of thing quite often.

Also recommended: Gorogoa, Wonder Boy, Subsurface Circular, Fe, Celeste, Night in the Woods, The Fall.

    • I have Axiom Verge on Wii U but just couldn't get into it for some reason. Never really clicked with those hardcore "MetroidVania" styled games. Owlboy has been on my Radar but I've heard so many mixed things that I just don't know whether to bite or not.

I finished half genie hero which was a great time and personally, just the right length for the game.

Night in the Woods and Gorogoa have been on my Radar for some time but I know very little about them and whether I'd like them, so if you could elaborate on those I'd greatly appreciate it

Also never heard of Subsurface Circular

      • I don't actually know too much about Night in the Woods or Gorogoa! They're on my wishlist since I heard they were great some time ago, but I've since forgotten what they were about. Sorry!

Yeah I'm halfway through Owlboy, and don't recommend it wholeheartedly. It's pretty good and there's nothing wrong with it, but I'm wondering if it's a bit too long and not really varied enough to carry it. Pretty good story for the genre, though. I got it on sale.

Subsurface Circular seems to be a fascinating short text game by the maker of Thomas Was Alone, which is enough for me to buy it.

  • I don't remember if Stardew Valley is under $15, but I bloody love it. I think I've easily spent about 40 hours on it. It just works so, so well as a portable game.

    • Already got Stardew, but thanks for the comment! It is really well priced on Switch @ $16.99 from memory too

  • I love Rocket League, so definitely +1 to that.

Jackbox 3 is great if you have mates around.

    • I've put 150+ hours into Rocket League according to my Switch profile. Love it

  • Resident Evil Revelations 2.

    • Already picked up that as well as the prequel. Sucks about the second game's file size though

  • If you haven't played VVVVVV yet I recommend it heartily, it's probably my favourite 2D platformer. It's very inventive/unique and beautiful, and the puzzles are hard (first they can be hard to figure out what you need to do, then hard to execute!)

    • Actually been meaning to look into that game for a while. Do you know what price range it falls under? Not with my Switch currently

      • +1

When I bought it on 3DS it was about $8, so I would guess less than $15 on Switch.

      • +1

Oh and the exploration is incredibly rewarding, if you remember playing games as a kid and them having this kind of magical feeling, you get that with this game

  • Death Road To Canada is a lot of fun.

  • I've never played enter the gungeon but my friends rave about it
